Materials

Patchwork Repairs</b>

Requirements: Any Crafts at 2, Kismet 2
Prerequisites: Savant's Soul

True craftsmen can continue to make parts work that should be broken-down and useless. This Understanding permanently enhances all attempts to repair artifacts. The character has no requirements to have replacement materials, and need not spend Resources to keep artifacts maintained or repaired.

<b>A Tool In The Hand</b>

Requirements: Any Crafts at 3, Kismet 3
Prerequisites: Patchwork Repairs

A bit of string and a screwdriver can stand in for almost anything imaginable. The character may spend 2 Kismet in order to construct or repair an artifact without any tools beyond the most absolute basic (and with a good stunt, this covers almost anything). She suffers no penalties for lacking proper tools.

<b>Jury-Rigging</b>

Requirements: Any Crafts at 3, Kismet 3
Prerequisites: Savant's Soul

Sometimes, an artifact doesn't have to work for very long. By spending 3 Kismet per Artifact dot, the character may create an artifact in record time, bypassing all design rolls - provided she doesn't want to keep it. She need merely succeed at a Wits + Crafts roll, at a difficulty of double the artifact's level; the process requires Resources equal to the Artifact's level -1, and takes one minute per artifact level. Normal penalties apply for lacking proper tools. The object may only be activated once; at the end of the scene in which it is activated, it collapses to rubble. Furthermore, it cannot be held for more than one day without losing its power. The character may not create single-use artifacts with this Understanding.
