Dodge is arguably the simplest ability. Dodge consists solely of the ability to manuever in order to avoid harm. Use of this ability is typicaly personal, such as a character evading an arrow fired at her.
Characters who were picked on as children, cautious soldiers, paranoid patricians, street urchins, and nearly anyone who prefers to avoid harm rather than face danger flat-footed and toe-to-toe should take this ability.
It should be noted that in Exalted, some attacks exist which can be parried, but not dodged and vise versa. A variety of defenses is encouraged.
