You know many people live their lives believing that somewhere, in the vastness of Creation there is that one person you are meant to be with.  Your soulmate, partner, friend, lover, wife, husband, whatever there is that person you are linked with in some deep, spiritual and inexplainable way.  Young Greeneye as she was called, after her grandmother Greeneye, was one of those who believed it.

The tribe they belonged to lived in the southeastern jungles of Creation.  Where wood and fire poles influence the land to be vibrant, full of life, and hot.  Living near a river the tribe was stationary.  It never grew much due to the predations of the wild and wyld beasts and the whims of gods but it was never wiped out either.  It was said the land was watched over by a powerful and mighty God who would destroy any who threatened them with extinction.  This was partly true.  There was indeed a being who was powerful and mighty.  This was no God but a Lunar Exalt.  One of Luna's sorcerers his territory was very near to the village.  Though he took no interest in them the presence of his power was enough to dissuade those from trying too much at the village incase he secretly cared for them.

Yet the Sorcerer was busy in his works.  Demons working in his land helping to refine and reorder the essence flows.  An increase in fire essence was needed for the manse he was building.  The changes affected the river's source and the water became unsafe to drink.  They could grow sick sometimes.  The tribe had to move.  They would go north and flee the dangerous waters and find someplace where the land was not sick.  Young Greeneyes was left behind when she fell ill.  They could not carry her.  The strong were allready weak and hte weak weaker.

Young Greeneyes didn't care though.  If they would not carry her and she was left behind to die so what?  Was it not taught that if you had the will you could change your fate?  Did not the Gods smile on those with the courage to fight and struggle?  Though fever would wrack her mind and body she pulled herself by her hands when her legs could not and struggled on her feet when she could.  Her choice was admirable, heroic, all the makings of someone good and you know things might have turned out ok.  However...she was too feverminded to know where she walked.  The river split and she did not follow the others.  She went east...towards the wyld.

This is where fate would have said it was time for her to die.  Her destiny of leading her people unfulfilled as essence and the strange taint of Creation's edge ruining the careful plan's of the spiders of heaven.  However there was another being interested in this one.  One that the Fate Spiders did not rule over or include in their plans.  Luna.  She was pleased with this one.  Pained, fevered, abandoned she didn't give up.  She was still surely going to die though walking into the Wyld as she was but still.  Now the Incarna have no dominion of the Exalted Soul's they empowered but...she smiled when regardless the young woman was infused suddenly with her power.  Sending an avatar to her she guided the woman back and west leading her to the Sorcerer's home to teach.

The woman clearly had a fighters spirit.  Still she was given some education, taught to read and some languages and brought into the ways of being something more then just a ravaging shapeshifting monster.  She was gifted with tattoos and power.  Yet each day with him she felt more ill at ease.  That something was missing.  Her soul cried out for something more.  When she told him he knew who she had been before.  She had been the Boarbreaker, the Skygaurder, the Gatewatcher of the East, her titles many, all knew her for her devotion and loyalty to her Solar mate.  For him she did much without a single complaint.

When the Ursupation came she raged in the east.  When the Dragonblooded came to destroy the palace of her fallen beloved she fought them at its gate.  She fought them and their allies for 3 days before she was forced into the courtyard.  She fought them for another three there.  She fought them as they forced her to retreat into the manse itself and then as her final act on the seventh day she activated the self-destruct mechanism and ended herself and the invaders.  The Sidereals breathed a sigh of relief with her death for they knew she would have taken the fight to the leaders of the Shogunate or even perhaps to Heaven itself to find them and take vengeange upon those who organized everything.  She may not have known the details but she knew well enough there were no words from the Sidereals about how to find safety or save the Solars.

That great battle became a story of sorts in the east.  The tale of the Gatewatcher.  In the story version though the roles are changed somewhat.  A woman loses her husband and so gathers an army to lay siege to a magical gateway to the Underworld through which people can return to life.  She wins the fight and bests the Gatewatcher but having sacrificed her army for it the Gods destroy the gate and leave her alone as punishment for caring so selfishly.

Her mentor knew he could not keep her forever so with his blessing she set out to find her reborn mate.  Death did not end her dedication.  It merely inconvenienced protecting the other part of her soul.

Defiant Claw is...well she is too preoccupied in finding her partner to worry about things like hiding her tattoos or dressing like a local.  Her garb is a skirt of colourful feathers over a white cloth that hangs down the front to the knees.  Around her neck is a necklace of clawstrider teeth she made herself with her new powers.  One her left bicep is a simple spiral of bronze.  Simple decorations of her peoples ways.  Her tanned skin covered in swirling tattoos of Moonsilver.  She is however fit and tall.  Her gaze and body strong and light and swift.  Her dark hair has grown long and in the time she has been training has grown down to her rear.  Her eyes are the most striking and beautiful part of her.  They are greener then anyone might have naturally, a side effect of some of her bloodline and the essence modified foods they sometimes fed on in the jungle.
