Unlimited!
I am the bone of my sword.
Steel is the meat of my body, and fire is my blood.
The blades I have tempered number over a thousand.
Sword Compass Formation
Cost: 8 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: One scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Melee: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Glorious Solar Saber
Not every sword is suitable for every task. Heavily-armored opponents are best fought with a heavy sword, while quick and agile foes can be better dealt with a nimble and light blade. A true swordsmaster is familiar with all kinds of weapons and with the help of this Charm, can always choose the sword best suited for each situation. The Solar crystallizes her golden Essence into not one, but four separate swords of her choice. These fantastic weapons shimmer into existence in mid-air and fall to the ground all around her, one in the direction of each principle Pole with the Solar herself standing in the central direction of Earth. Each of the four swords has the statistics of a Daiklave of any basic type the Solar chooses (ordinary, Short, Reaper, Grand and so on), but do not have any additional bonuses gained from Magical Materials. As long as the Solar does not leave the area where she summoned the swords, she may fight with any one of them however she wishes. By paying one mote of Essence, the Solar can switch from one sword to another as a reflexive action. This does not count towards the Exalt’s Charm usage for the turn and can be performed as many times during the round as the Solar wishes to (and is willing to pay motes for). Blades can be switched at any point of the turn – even while performing a Combo or a Charm involving extra actions such as the Peony Blossom Attack. If the Solar has one or more weapons stored elsewhere, he may materialize them as one of the four points in the Compass, for no extra cost.
Hundred Swords Approach
Cost: 8 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: Until next action
Type: Extra Action
Minimum Melee: 4
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Sword Compass Formation, Peony Blossom Attack
This Charm is a specialized follow-up for the Sword Compass Formation. The swords blinding streaks of golden light in her hands, the Exalt switches between weapons with such speed that she almost seems to be using every one of them simultaneously. Until her next initiative, the Solar may take up to four actions with her full Melee pool, either to attack or defend, once with each sword. These actions may be further split into additional actions with that same sword, if the Exalt so wishes. She may freely decide which weapon she will use for which purpose, but each blade can be used only once. The Exalt must have activated Sword Compass Formation prior to using this Charm.
Million Swords Torrent
Cost: 6 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Simple
Minimum Melee: 5
Minimum Essence: 3
Prerequisite Charms: Hundred Swords Approach, Iron-Raptor Technique
A Charm that has an odd resemblance to the Death of Obsidian Butterflies, Million Swords Torrent summons hundreds of glimmering swords of all types. They gush forth from all around the Exalt and fly at her enemies in a single devastating, cutting outpour. The Solar makes a single Melee attack with her full pool up to her Essence x 5 in yards away. This attack is applied against all objects within the radius of permanent Essence in yards from the point of impact. It has the base damage of twice the Solar’s permanent Essence and cannot be dodged, only parried. The swords shimmer out of existence within seconds after the end of this Charm.
Unlimited Blade Works
Cost: 10 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: One scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Melee: 5
Minimum Essence: 4
Prerequisite Charms: Sword Compass Formation
At this point, the Exalt’s mastery over swords has reached the point where her ability to create weapons is limited only by her skill at wielding them. Heavens are bathed in fierce gold of twilight sun as the Exalt spreads her arms imperiously and materializes her Essence into a hundred, a thousand, a million blades that fall from the sky in a glimmering torrent. Every sword is slightly different from the others, yet every single one of them is worth a legend of its own. It is an endless arsenal, ready to be used however the Exalt wishes.
Technically, this Charm functions identically to Sword Compass Formation – the Solar may switch reflexively between swords at the cost of one mote and may do so as many times in a turn as she likes. However, she is no longer confined to a set of four distinct blades. Each time the Solar switches weapons, she may determine the statistics of the new blade herself. Every sword has the base damage equal to the Solar's permanent Essence. In addition to this, the Solar may divide points equal to twice her Melee score among the sword's Speed, Accuracy, Damage and Defense attributes. Just as with Glorious Solar Saber, each point placed on Speed, Damage and Defense gives +2. The Solar may also use any weapon she has Elsewhere when switching weapons with this Charm.
It should be noted that a rain of thousands of swords can cause considerable environmental damage and may severely wound any extras caught into the area. The exact effects of this are left up to the ST’s discretion, but the activation of this Charm has the potential to throw entire army formations into disarray.
Unlimited Lady Works
Cost: 15 motes, 1 willpower
Duration: One scene
Type: Simple
Minimum Melee: 5
Minimum Essence: 5
Prerequisite Charms: Unlimited Blade Works
The greatest beauty of the blade is not in the sword itself, but in the soul of its wielder. Thus, it is only proper that the greatest Charm in this cascade does not summon swords, but the souls of the most beautiful sword-wielding warriors to walk the surface of Creation. Their reflections shimmer into existence in a variety fawning and alluring poses around the Solar, every warrior more beautiful than the previous one, all gathered together into a single, magnificent gallery of beauty and deadliness combined.
"…stunning power and grace from every corner of Creation, never forgetting the Blessed Isle itself, represented tonight by none other than Tepet Ejava! Straight from Heaven, our presence is graced by the Goddess of War and Conflict, E-Naluna herself! Yet the forces of Underworld hold their own well, in the wonderful swell and form of the Maiden of the Mirthless Smile…!"
These souls are, unfortunately, nothing but reflections. While they are utterly devoted to the Exalt who summoned them and constantly show their affections with varying styles of preening and cooing, they do not actually interact with anyone else – not even with the Solar’s enemies – and will vanish as soon as they are touched by anyone else but the summoner. This Charm was developed mostly for gloating purposes, a pastime that every self-respecting Solar indulges in every now and then. It might be of some use as a means to attract plenty of attention, however. Some Temperance rolls might also be in order to avoid succumbing to endless pangs of envy and spending the next turn fretting and attempting to push his way into the Solar’s place.
Despite its name, Unlimited Lady Works always summons famous warriors of the Solar’s preferred gender. This Charm may also be used to summon innumerable copies of the same individual, each dressed in a different outfit. Only the Exalt’s own imagination is the limit here – the copies may even be clad in costumes that the real person would never be seen wearing in public. Solars who specialize in summoning certain personalities with this Charm usually prefer to call it Unlimited (insert the person’s name) Works – for example, Unlimited Ejava Works.
