Background and rules for Exalted: Starfall pbp game. A creation of StalkerofShadows
The storm is one of the worst seen since the Scarlet Empress unleashed the power of the Realm Defense Grid. Green lightning flashed in the night and strangely luminous thunderclouds filled the sky. Yet, the air was strangely calm; no wind blew other than what was visibly moving the clouds, no rain fell from the sky.
Grandmother Bright looked from the Plaza and shook her head. Trouble would be in the days ahead, but perhaps possibilities as well. She had seen many strange things in her vigil over the city. Even though the city was once destroyed, new promise had risen from the shattered glass shards.
As she once again raised her gaze, an extremely bright flash of metallic colored lightning illuminated the sky. Six meteors of different colorations streaked across the sky towards the horizons, and distant concussions marked their landing. Then just as suddenly, the storm weakened and began to vanish entirely.
In a well-secured secret chamber beneath the Bureau of Destiny, two pairs of eyes watched a holographic essence display of Creation.
“Mistress, a level 5 reality breach has occurred in grid 54. Should we investigate?” “No,” added a second, feminine voice. “We are shorthanded as is and it does not smell of the Yozis. Interesting, but we simply do not have the personnel.” “Perhaps we should call in some old favors,” the male voice replied. “There are those once again with the skill outside of the 5-score brotherhood.” “Patience, Observant Spider, patience. Events will be set into motion with the slightest touch. See that it is done, then do not interfere further.”
For any character with the contacts to know so:
Several Realm legions have been rumored to have been butchered in the Haltan woodlands almost a year ago. The Realm has also had increasing problems with pirates and unrest in Harborhead. The small Realm garison in Chiarascuro has been withdrawn, although some Immaculate missionaries and Dragonblooded advisors are said to remain.
This would seem the opportune time for Lookshy to expand, but they are consolidating their forces in fear of the deathknights. No deathknight activity is known to have happened near Chiarascuro.
The essence storm occured only two days ago.
Mechanics:
Rolling your own dice is cool, everyone loves their own little lucky bag of d10s! I’ll inform of stunt values.
Dice results and actions can be placed in green at the bottom of the IC thread. Random questions to the GM and chit-chat can go in OOC. I prefer not needing to switch threads back and forth, I don’t feel that having mechanics information on IC detracts from the drama.
PG mechanics:
errated charms (yay!)
essence ping (attacks do at least your essence in dice after soak but before hardness)
armor hardness used
essence score added to dodge pools
penalties can not reduce you to less than 3 dice in a roll, as long as you are capable of making that roll
cascading parry
updated weapon stats
House rule:
all successfull attacks do one LEVEL of damage after soak unless the target has a hardness value
The need for downtime for summoning/crafting/contacts will be determined in a way that doesn't cause mass boredom in the rest of the party.
Disliking other party members is fine, it makes things interesting. Just no assassination plots or berserk combat between party members please! I've seen too many rpg.net games die off from that sort of thing.
And feel free to post as much as you want (without spamming of course). Don't get 5 steps ahead of everyone else when we're trying to run a combat, but for solo scenes and such it goes as fast as we can keep replying. I hope everyone can post at least a few times a week (no set days).
