− | Righto. The game is going to start out in a school setting, and the first few stories will take place within one.

− | I like this idea because I hate railroading plots, it takes away some of the freedom of RPGS. At the same time I like to ensure that without my influence the characters will be compelled to follow the plot I've laid out.

− | I did something like this before: I ran a (new) World of Darkness game on a cruise boat. Zombies attacked, it was a riot. Great fun.

− | So where to begin? Well, first hurdle: I can't think of a good name for a school, so I'd appreciate anything you guys can suggest. Keep 'em coming (bottom of page) and I'll choose one I think suits the school.
| |
− | | |
− | The school is going to be what I imagine to be a regular Dynast school. Not too large, but not small. I think maybe twenty children per year, mixed gender with segregated dormitories. Maybe up to a fifth or a third of the class is expected to exalt? It is my first time GMing an exalted game, if anyone knows better about DBs I'm eager to hear suggestions.

− | The characters will be entering at the age of 12/13. They will join the school mid-term at the same time (in order to join the party! Yay!), after budget cuts closed their previous schools.
| |
− | As mentioned somewhere in the "Exalted: The Dragonbloods" book, new arrivals are often placed in the same room for the first few weeks.
| |
− | I'm going to ignore the gender issue for these weeks (Three of my five players are female) and pretend the school would see no problem. After an arbitrary length of time (the characters starting to like one another, for example), they are then separated.

− | The school is lavish, secure and full of other brats. There is a separate exalted dorm, though they share physical sessions with them each day.
| |
− | I think I shall model it after a secondary school; there will be a teacher for each (broadly defined) topic, instead of one teacher for all. The dominie and maybe two other staff will be Dragon-bloods themselves.
| |
− | | |
− | I have several characters laid out for the children, ranging from young power brokers, to idiot bullies to an Iselsi kid who is hiding his exaltation for (not from) his parents in order to keep an advantage.

− | Another thing worth mentioning (he says casually): The school is a minor manse left over from the first age, when it was used as a school for Solar children. Some areas of the school are off limits to anyone but the Dominie (The chapel to the Sun, for example). These rooms are obviously not dedicated to the dragons and feature heretical imagery, but they cannot be altered because they are part of the manse structure.

− | Part of the reason that Anita (see antagonists) is interested in the school is the bolt-hole leading from the old chapel to the site of an old cave with a jetty. She has the Eclipse caste "Unfolding Ship" thingy, and intends to make good her escape with the children when the opportunity arises.

− | The rest of the city isn't fully fleshed out, apart from Anita's Cafe and the barracks next to the school. It is a dock city with a healthy trade, and is used by the V'neef as a dock for their "Trade fleet". It is also under something of an unofficial alert due to it's proximity to Thorns. They do not expect an attack (Good, thinks Mask of Winters), but they are cautious.
