The Old Sail Charms

I never like the Sail Charms, to be honest. They annoyed me for a number of reasons. Regardless, the following changes to the old Sail Charms apply:

Salty Dog Method has been absorbed by Unshakeable Adept Method (see below), and is no longer required.
Perfect Reckoning Technique and Weather-Anticipation Intuition were always in the wrong place. They are now Survival Charms, and use Hardship-Surviving Mendicant Spirit as their prerequisite, and work on land as well.
Shipwreck-Surviving Stamina is an Endurance charm. It uses Tireless Traveler's Stamina (see Castebook: Eclipse, page 72) as a prerequisite.
The remaining Sail Charms may be purchased as specialty Profession Charms which only function on boats (as with Rock-Weaving Method from Time of Tumult), and build out of Able-Minded Method instead of Salty Dog Method. Similar Charms may be created for other Professions.

The Solar Profession Tree

Able-Minded Method

Cost: 3 motes per success
Type: Supplemental
Duration: Instant
Min. Profession: 2
Min. Essence: 1
Prereqs: None

The character focuses on the task at hand, pouring her heart and soul into her work. The character, before rolling, may purchase a number of successes on one Profession roll equal to her Essence. The Essence is considered committed until the task is completed, but the successes are purchased immediately.

Leading By Example Approach <--???

Cost: 3 motes per success
Type: Supplemental
Duration: One Task
Min. Profession: 4
Min. Essence: 2
Prereqs: Able-Minded Method

Through her industrious and skillful activities, the character serves as an inspiration to her companions. The character may affect a number of people up to her Essence rating, and must be working at the Profession, and the targets must be companions of hers who are not already occupied with another task. Roll Charisma + Profession. If the character succeeds, all targets must join in to the best of their ability. Targets may make an opposed Willpower roll to refrain from joining in. If the targets are placed in danger, or if they character stops working, they will also stop, and they will not work past the point of exhaustion; this Charm merely prevents them from slacking off or sitting on the sidelines heckling. This Charm’s effects last until the task is completed.

Industrious Worker Activities

Cost: 5 motes, 1 Willpower
Type: Simple
Duration: One Day
Min. Profession: 5
Min. Essence: 2
Prereqs: Leading By Example Approach

The character gives orders and directions to her followers, who begin to function as an increasingly well-oiled machine. As long as the character is working on a task, anyone else also working on it gains one free success on their rolls. This includes broad concepts such as cooking for a feast (everyone cooking for the same feast would gain the bonus) or sailing a ship.

Maestro of Destruction Technique

Cost: 5 motes, 1 Willpower
Type: Simple
Duration: One Day
Min. Profession: 5
Min. Essence: 3
Prereqs: Leading By Example Approach

The character turns her attention to the down side of her profession, finding flaws and problems with another’s work after mere moments. The character must join in a Profession roll that others are taking part in; the difficulty of the roll for all involved parties increases by the character’s Essence, and without a Perception + Profession roll at a difficulty of the character’s Profession, onlookers will not be able to pinpoint the culprit.

Unshakeable Adept Method

Cost: 5 motes
Type: Simple
Duration: One Day
Min. Profession: 3
Min. Essence: 2
Prereqs: None

The character attunes herself to the heart and soul of her profession, protecting herself. For the duration of this Charm, the character is immune to any ill effects that are a direct result of working at her profession. For example, a farmer would not get dirty or sore from working in the fields, a sailor would feel no seasickness and would have perfect sea legs, and so on. Please note that this Charm does NOT protect a soldier from being injured by enemies (or friends); however, he would not drop his weapon on his foot, a shattered bowstring would not harm him, he would not become ill from camp food, and so on.

Expeditious Resolution Method

Cost: 4 motes
Type: Supplemental
Duration: Instant
Min. Profession: 3
Min. Essence: 2
Prereqs: Unshakeable Adept Method

Working with impressive speed, the character clears through her tasks in record time. The character may divide the time needed to complete one Profession task by her Essence. The Essence is committed until the task is completed, but the Charm is considered to be instant.

Overnight Completion Method

Cost: 12 motes, 1 Willpower
Type: Simple
Duration: One Day
Min. Profession: 5
Min. Essence: 3
Prereqs: Expeditious Resolution Method, Industrious Worker Activities

The Solar leaps to work, extorting her fellow to ever-greater heights of skill and speed as they complete a vast task in an amazingly short period of time. All characters involved in a single Profession-based task gain two free successes on their rolls, and all workers work at five times their normal speed. This Charm is not compatible with Expeditious Resolution Method.
