Abyssal Medicine Charms
by LeumasWhite
- Back to AbyssalMedicine
Soul-Soothing Whisper
Cost:5 motes Duration: One day Type: Simple Min. Medicine: 4 Min. Essence: 2 Prereqs: Touch of Gentle Repose
Filled with the peaceful Essence of death, a character targeted by this charm feels their pain and worries fade away, replaced by a cool feeling of detachment. When the Abyssal uses this Charm and touches a target, for the duration, they suffer from no wound penalties of any sort, and automatically succeed at any Temperance or Valor check.
However, they automatically fail all Compassion and Conviction rolls, and cannot engage in any sort of task requiring focus or concentrated effort. If so desired, they may make a Willpower roll to shake this indifference off, at a difficulty of their highest wound penalty. If they succeed, the Charm's effects are broken, and any wound penalties they may be suffering from return.
Eleventh-Hour Infusion
Cost:8 motes, 1 Willpower, 4 motes per target Duration: One scene Type: Simple Min. Medicine 5 Min. Essence 4 Prereqs: Crimson Waterfall Attack, Soul-Soothing Whisper
With a savage twist of her hand, the Abyssal using this Charm can snatch the Essence of a mortal at the moment of death, snarling it around their heart and forcing them into unholy action. As they are about to expire, the black bands of Essence squeeze, provoking one last maddening burst of life and activity.
Targets of this Charm must be mortals with Essence 1, and either on their Incapacitated health level or have died within the past three turns. When the Abyssal touches them and spends 4 motes, any wounds they suffer from are immediately healed, and they gain a number of health levels, dots of Stamina, Strength, Endurance and Resistance equal to the Abyssal’s Medicine; in addition, they suffer no wound or fatigue penalties for the Charm’s duration, but cannot be healed further. After a number of hours equal to the Abyssal’s Essence + Medicine, the targets expire, as their hearts burst within their chests from the strain.
The most common use of this Charm is to reanimate soldiers fallen in battle, but particularly inventive (or sadistic) Abyssals may find other uses. The Abyssal may touch as many targets during the scene as she can pay for.
