SeedRelay

Format

The theme may be something thematic (such as 'Romantic Misadventures'), something regional (such as 'Tragedy In The Heptagram'), or anything else that is both stimulating and open to interpretation. The plot seeds themselves are brief (no more than two paragraphs, at most) introductions to or descriptions of minor adventures, events, or conflicts along that theme. These seeds should mention any important figures, settings or other important details where necessary. They don't need to be complete, and ideally have some room to allow Storytellers to work them into their own group and plotline.

Theme: My Girlfriend Asked Me To...

Shotgun Wedding -- Paincake The PCs encounter a wandering girl, beautiful and feral, being attacked by spirits. Her name is Hayadena (heya-denya) the Tears of the Haya River. Her father is Lord of the River of Tears, and all of its tributaries and much of the surrounding countryside are members of his Spirit Court. Her mother was the mortal Haya, who died in the childbirth. The Tear-river Lord has broad plans for his Daughter, including a royal marriage to the powerful ruler of the city at the crux of the rivers, Islandhome; the King who sits the Lilac Throne. Its Eldest Prince is planning a secret coup, and its youngest prince is the heroic mortal Descending Gray. Hayadena promises accolades, rewards, and has much praise for the PCs. She gives one of them a small charm, which she coyly reveals as a token of affection.. over the travels, be sure to allow them much time together, to grow close. When the party arrives, however, the reception is icy. She brings them before her father's throne and introduces the charm-bearer as her 'betrothed.' Oh no. Apparently, she is carrying a child.. not The Lilac King's. She informs the PCs that her child's and her lover's lives are forfeit if she names him.. the Law of the River binds her father to slay any who would break the ancient laws. Unless the PC can complete a certain task for the offended parties; The River Lord and the Lilac King.

If they leave, Hayadena will be killed, and the River Lord's oath will press him to find and kill the father of her child.. he will pursue the PCs. If they throw Hayadena to the wolves, the River Lord kills her and the father of her child; the Prince of Islandhome, Descending Gray. This is considered an act of war, and the area descends into chaos.

If they stay, they must complete the tasks asked of them.. the delighted-to-have-a-powerful-son-in-law River Lord merely asks that the Father of Haya's baby not come to any harm. The task asked of them by the Lilac King is to kill his sons, who plan a coup against him... ut oh. One of those sons is the Father of Haya's baby. These tasks are enforced through a Geas. Good luck!
