Dual Wielding
It came up the other day in a discussion with SilverMeerKat that there weren't any canon rules (that we knew of) for dual-wielding weapons. This is what we came up with.
- Use highest of each stat between the two weapons being wielded.
- If either the accuracy or defense of two weapons are the same, add one to that stat. If both weapons have the same stat for each, add one to each.
- The requirements for dual-wielding are:
- At least 3 in the appropriate ability (Melee or Martial Arts)
- The higher of the two Strength req.s
- Add the Dexterity req.s for each weapon (minimum of 3)
- Characters may not dual-wield things you'd normally need two hands for such as bows and staffs.
- If using two of the same weapon, a specialty in that weapon will apply. Otherwise, characters must have a specialty in the particular weapon pair (hammer & sickle, rapier & dagger) for it to count. These specialties apply to the specialty-maximum of the appropriate ability.
Examples of Weapon Pairs
- Dual Daggers\\
Spd +3, Acc +1, Dam +1L, Def -1; Min. Str 1, Min. Dex 3, Min. (Ability) 3
- Rapier (slashing sword) & Dagger\\
Spd +3, Acc +2, Dam +2L, Def +1; Min. Str 1, Min. Dex 3, Min. Melee 3
- Dual Short Swords\\
Spd +0, Acc +2, Dam +2L, Def +2; Min. Str 1, Min. Dex 3, Min. Melee 3
- Dual Hook Swords\\
Spd +0, Acc +0, Dam +3L, Def +4; Min. Str 2, Min. Dex 3, Min. MA 3
Some other dual-wielding rules I found.
