History
This is Conan, the Cimmerian. His history as it is known to us was written down by Robert E. Howard; in Creation, Cimmeria will fit in quite well in the North, although not the absolute north. Crom is the God of Will, a fairly important deity in the Commission on Abstract Matters and Celestial Concerns, specifically the Department of Abstract Matters. Unlike many deities, Crom does respect the old codes and rules about non-interaction. He is, however, aware that not this is not the standard. As a result, he made a deal with the tribes of Cimmeria, whom he felt most lived up to his standards. In exchange for swearing by him- minor worship, but still potent, given the standards of Cimmeria (almost all heroic mortals, at least)- Crom protects them from other spirits and elementals. Other than that, Crom remains utterly austere from the mortals who are technically ‘his’. Crom does not interfere with daily life in Cimmeria, refuses to do anything with their souls after death- and, in fact, is honest about the likely fates of souls in the afterlife. He does, however, grant them his blessing- the strength to strive and slay- at birth, but little else. As a result, Cimmerians tend to have greater Conviction, Valor, and Willpower than normal.
The story of this write-up is somewhat unusual. It’s based on the GURPS Conan write-up (halfway between Conan the Thief and Conan, Captain of Turan), translated using a modification of the rules in GURPS: Vampire the Masquerade and GURPS: Werewolf the Apocalypse, as well as some minor adjustments, and I couldn’t resist adding the Starmetal sword out of the cartoon show. At this point in his life, Conan is in the South. This is still a young Conan, so he has not mastered his weapons and body yet. He’ll get there. Other entities, ranging from the Queen of the Black Coast to Thoth Amon are fairly easily translatable into Exalted terms.
Description
This is Conan at the real beginning of his career- 22, 6’3”, and 200 lbs. He’s black-haired and blue eyed, and covered with muscle, and his time in the South has bronzed his skin to the point that he can pass for a native.
Expanded Backgrounds
Artifact 5: A yet-unnamed but fabulously powerful Starmetal Reaver Daiklaive. Not sure of its stats yet, but it does make demons go poof.\\ Ally 1: Juma the Kushite (a southern warrior, either a Dawn or a Full Moon, probably Dawn).\\ Influence 2: Conan is a captain of the guard in some southern city-state.\\ Backing 2: Ditto.
Quote
"Save your bullying for the fools who fear you,” he growled, blue fires smoldering in his eyes. “I’m no city-bred Nemedian to cringe before your hired dogs. I’ve killed better men than you for less than this.”
