Character Description and Background

Black Sam grew up a street thug in Lookshy. An orphan, with no patrician backing him, in a city run by the Dragon-Blooded princes, he's doomed to a life of mediocrity at best and he knows it. He chose to fight back. In the outskirts of Lookshy, where the eyes of the Seventh Legion are not so keen and the grip not so tight, he carved a territory and ruled it using strength and intimidation. Yet, as he dispatched rival gangs, dealt with Guild men, and avoided Legion scrutiny, he grew more and more dissatisfied. He realized that unless he does something drastic, he'll forever be a petty gang-lord. Even if he sells his soul to the Guild, he can't possibly grow any further before the Legion takes notice and crushes him and his organization. Thus he made up his mind. He'll start over somewhere else, away from the Legion. Somewhere he can grow. So what if he has to start over? He's been through worse. This pirate fleet captained by an Anathema seems promising.

Expanded Backgrounds

Comments

People with an eye toward stats may notice that Black Sam doesn't have as many Backgrounds as he ought to be. That's intentional. Black Sam abandoned his power base. To play him as a small-time ganglord, add Backing 1, add Follower 2, perhaps an Ally, maybe even Influence. Then take several Flaws appropriate for a criminal. Enemy and Wanted, for example.
