Zeretan is a Realm satrapy primarily controlled by Houses Cathak and Ledaal. However, the Cynis have always had a strong interest in the local economy, and so have stationed their own people in the region, and House Peleps has recently been making tentative moves towards gaining a foothold in the region, slowly displacing the local Ledaal (ideally for them). At the moment, Cathak remains in primary control of the area, and with the crown prince newly made a member of the house, this doesn't look like a state of affairs that is likely to change in the near future.
Colonel Cathak Peldan (Earth Aspect): Colonel Peldan is an old man, almost 200 years old, and has been the governor of the Legion garrison, and of the satrapy, for over forty years. Prior to that, he was an adjunct to the previous garrison commander, and has lived in Zeretan for a total of 140 years. Colonel Peldan is considered to be a fair man, but he is unwilling to excercise his authority very often, allowing the king free reign. He has taken stands to protect the rights of the Black Farm peasantry, and has attempted to curb the spread of the more dangerous drugs through the kingdom. Beyond that, however, and beyond ensuring that supernatural threats do not trouble the kingdom, he seems content to allow it to collapse in on itself.
Cathak Citrios (Fire Aspect): Barely 50 years old, and the newest garrison member to the kingdom (only four years at the moment), Cathak Citrios may be a rising star in the House, provided that they can manage to come out ahead in the succession. Talented and friendly, Citrios only really has one flaw - an overabundance of youthful enthusiasm and cheer. It is commonly held that Citrios is in Zeretan because his loyalty to the Realm might supersede that of the house, and that he will be recalled as soon as the succession is resolved, or the Empress returns. For now, Citrios makes his home in Purdaya, where he leads frequent expeditions into the swamp in search of glory, and is beloved by the locals for his honour and charm, if not his lack of vision.
Ledaal Silver Wren (Water Aspect): Although over a hundred years old, Wren has only been assigned to Zeretan for around ten years, when she was assigned to Candat following the death of the previous overseer. Silver Wren's job is to oversee the mining operations in Candat, and she is given much leeway as long as the jade and silver is mined, and the gold mines are protected. Wren has already developped a reputation for not caring about the workers in her jurisdiction.
Ledaal Kasmur (Air Aspect): Kasmur is about 120 years old, and is an old graduate of the Heptagram. However, he has failed to make many waves in the nearly 80 years since his graduation, and has been a resident of Zeretan for over 50 years, when the previous overseer of Servan was reassigned to the capitol. It is generally agreed that Kasmur will be here forever, where he can at least keep a more influential or prestigious Ledaal from becoming tied up. In response, Kasmur spends most of his time in his tower, as Servan slowly decays around him, and the small region surrounding his library is one of the few active ones in the city.
Cathak Jorus Relway (Wood Aspect): Jorus Relway is the son of the current king of Zeretan, and grew up with every privilege. He showed talent in both military and scholarly matters, but also portrayed a great deal of arrogance; it was a great suprise and joy to the court when he Exalted. The king quickly sent Jorus to the Realm for the very best in training; despite his patrician blood, Jorus excelled, made friends, and was able to enter the House of Bells, where he graduated with honours. Technically, Jorus is a younger addition to the garrison than Citrios, having only arrived in the last two years, but his full first twenty-two years were also spent in Zeretan. When his father dies, Jorus is still expected to succeed him, at which point House Cathak will have complete control of the kingdom. Jorus is talented in many fields, but he is born to power, and is known for his fits of rage whenever he is thwarted. There are even dark rumours that he has had rivals crippled or killed, and many noblemen would not be displeased if he were to suffer an unfortunate accident. Jorus is only 40 years old.
Seventh Diamond Shard (Earth Aspect): Shard was born Outcaste in the Realm, and was raised by the Immaculate Order. She is a devoted Immaculate, but rumours swirl around her; rumours that she is a worshipper of Pasiap over the Immaculate Faith itself, and that she cares more for her scrolls than her people. Around 80 years of age, Shard is a remote Immaculate, rarely seen, who despite having inhabited the kingdom for thirty years, spends much time on religious retreats in the desert. She rarely enters Zeretan itself, and although she is apparantly uncomfortable with the drugs and slavery that abound in the religion, she keeps silent.
Ledaal Andir (Air Aspect): An Immaculate priest and true believer in the Order, Ledaal Andir is on a constant crusade in Zeretan. His actions are a constant amusement to the population, as fourty years of campaigning in his 90-year life have not dulled his fervour to bring the kingdom better into the Immaculate fold. In his defense, Andir has likely slowed the collapse of the kingdom significantly, but with few allies, his quest is quixotic at best.
Cynis Lyrial (Wood Aspect): Lyrial is a younger Exalt, barely 50 years old and a member of the garrison for about seven years, who has been assigned to Zeretan as a contact with the Guild. Lyrial is reputed to quietly deal in slaves and drugs that are illegal even in Zeretan, and the occasional rumour states that she deals in even darker entertainments. At the very least, Lyrial is uninterested in making Zeretan a better place to live, and she is likely to be re-assigned as soon as she has acquired some experience in a relatively safe area.
Cynis Samarus (Earth Aspect): Samarus is the Dynast currently overseeing Zeretan's opium farms. Samarus has been in the kingdom for almost twenty of his eighty years, supporting the farms for House Cynis. He treats the growing as a philosophical excercise, and is reputed to never use the term 'opium', speaking only of his 'crops' and his 'plants'. Samarus is efficient, but narrow-minded; he is generally charming, but doesn't pay much attention when not on the job.
Commander Peleps Oliana (Water Aspect): A naval captain, Oliana is primarily concerned with ensuring the safe transport of the pearls mined in Zeretan across the ocean, and with keeping raiders from damaging the shores of Zeretan. She has already made waves in the last few years for refusing to accept bribes, and in fact her first major newsworthy action overall was the arrest and selling into slavery of a merchant captain who attempted to bribe her to attack an enemy merchant's ship. The commander is known for her pride and a degree of aloofness to the peasantry, but also for a general friendliness to those who have not offended her and for a strict sense of honour. She is still young (only 50 years old), but much is expected of her.
