Anita: The main NPC is actually not of the school. I will be allowing the PCs a small bit of supervised time free each day, during which they are allowed to visit the school-sanctioned confection shop and restaurant across the road. It is run by a pleasant (some might call her.. diplomatic?) lady named Anita, who will for some odd reason take an interest in my playing group. She is actually a Solar (eclipse) looking to subvert some Dragonblood children as part of a scheme by her sparsely-spread circle.
She will initially view them as an asset, but I think as she grows to know them she may come to think of them more and more as her wards. This will not change her plans for them, but her attidude towards them will be kinder. As things happen to the city (and happen they will.. mwahahaha), the players may notice more and more her strange knowledge, and they may link her to packages they sometimes recieve with just the right tool (or minor artifact) for the job.
Other Kids:
I haven't fully fleshed them all out, but apart from Randomkid #1 through 16, there are a few who stand out. Assume all to be in the region of 12-14. Older kids will not feature much. Here's what I have:
Fifth Year students of note: Cathak Moresh Tekhat (m) A proud, belligerent young brat, with an inflated sense of self importance even for a Dynast child. Moresh considers his strength his finest virtue, although he can also play a lute and pays token attention to his studies. He has a prejudice against the Nellens, learning from his parents that they are a pretender house, and has a leaning towards the Sesus because of their good breeding. Moresh is the petty leader of a small cadre of other students, who look to him for guidance. Their names are Sesus Brand (m), Cathak Dranis (f) and Ledaal Cuart (f).
Peleps Ramse Jonen (f) Ramse is a quiet but forceful young girl, aged 13. She takes pride in her ability to outclass the other pupils in literature and the sciences, and she excels at the arts. However, a bad injury as a child has left her crippled, a mark of imperfection among Dynasts. As a result, she cannot walk without crutches and does not take part in combat or sports classes, instead focusing on her more advanced knowledge of the other topics. She has earned the resentment of most of the other students, helped in no way by Moresh who makes no secret of his contempt for her physical condition. She only consorts with one Mnemon Tak, an earnest girl of much lower mental strength but with a loyal spirit. She is attended by a personal slave, who is mute.
V'neef Martyn Leesu (f) A slightly younger girl with an athletic body and a sharp wit. She is noted for her success in combat and sport, and for the odd way in which the staff tend to overlook her insubordinate attitude and wit. Her parents are a relatively common sight in the school, visiting once or twice a week to meet with the Funds and Holdings officer, Ragara Hara Melda. She has two friends, both of whom share a room with her, and a twin sister of lesser accomplishments with whom she also shares a room: Tepet Akommel (f), Ledaal Iria (f) and V'neef Senis Leesu (f). Has been known to smuggle wine onto the grounds.
Ragara Conren Sora (m) A 'rich kid' with a seemingly genuine smile and a professed wish to be on good terms if not friendship with everyone else. He fills his house role well, loaning money to the other students and helping them when they need a hand with study or anything else that he can offer assistance for. Like a true Ragara, he expects that these favours be returned, but outside of 'business', he is content to just relax and talk with the other students without malice or any sense of competetiveness. He has a level one artifact and excells at the sciences, and can recite passages from the immaculate texts perfectly. Can provide contraceptives and recreational substances.
Iselsi Running Discourse (m) Seldom addressed in class and largely disliked among the other pupils, Running Discourse could be a stong ally or a dangerously cunning enemy. He spends his free time in reflection in the Immaculate Order Chapel, and keeps up enough in class to remain unnoticed. He is a master of low expectations dispite a strong mind and an eidetic memory. He is, in fact, an exalted since half a year ago, but he kept it a secret thus far (except from his parents) to hold an edge over any potential rivals. He knows two charms, one for stealth and one for larceny. He can acquire things for those he thinks he should help. He can sometimes be found talking to Ramse and Iron Stream at free time, although neither reveal what is discussed. Has a cache egg.
Others: Girls: Tepet Akommel -Fast, in all ways Ledaal Iria -Quiet but funny. Genial. V'neef Senis Leesu -Identical twin of Martyn. Somewhat sulky, honest. Cathak Dranis -Airhead, but OK in class Ledaal Cuart -Intelligent and quiet. Ramse's ex-"friend". Mnemon Tak -Not very smart, but nice. Ramse's lover.
Boys: Sesus Brand -Suspicious, unhelpful. Looks to Moresh for direction. Nellens Amora -Fearful, fast talker. Mousy. Tepet Con -Competitive, resents Moresh Cathak Iron Stream -Looks for patterns in everything Cheater, can provide exam sheets in advance.
Dragon Blooded Students of the Fifth Year: Cynis Terra Semmer (f) A proud and hauty girl with the notion that she is raised above her peers, which indeed it seems she is. Her skills lie in the Wood catagory, although she also favours the occult and lore skills, fancying herself a sorceror at a young age. She is 12, and is friends only with the other dragon-blood of the year, although she has been known to talk to Ramse on occasion (some discussions take place behind doors). She is provided with a personal manservant by the school, although this manservant also acts to nip physical conflicts between her and her peers in the bud.
Sesus Arianna Kinis (f) Although she is rumoured to have had a brief relationship with Moresh, she professes contempt for him and denies the rumour fiercely. She is eager for an opportunity to consort with a boy in her year though, and would leap at the chance to bed one who she sees as worthy (of good breeding, despite her lack of any drive to procreate). She has young monkey tea and maiden tea smuggled in to her by Ragara Conren Sora, who she sees as an ideal choice (he's not into girls). The teachers are aware of her ambitions, and have been keeping a watchful eye on her to head off any trysts after dark. (Shortly after the party notices, she might be seen by the PCs with Running Discourse sneaking into the gardens). Her parents give her quite a sum of money to keep her comfortable, but she is perpetually skint due to her expensive (and ambitious) choice of teas.
The Dragon-blooded students are kept in a dorm in the main building, west block. The single door to this dorm is guarded at all times by two well- trained guardsmen, and their movements are observed closely by the staff. Their dorm is lavishly decorated, and they have single rooms with a slave provided by the school each. With special treatment comes a price though - the Exalted children are always under the care of school staff, and time off the Grounds is either spent under a guard of two armed adults or not at all (only with parental consent, in writing), to avoid liability issues should something befall the children.
Note that several of the kids seem sexually active. Although this is not the point or a major theme of the game, it mixes things up a little, and some things about their habits may come into play later (Such as Arianna Kinis' teas, when the "Maiden Tea" incident happens. Detailed elsewhere..).
