Doom works in a manner similar to the Destiny background, save that its rating determines how likely it will come to pass. The wording of the prophecy is given to the player and is encouraged to be cryptic.

Doom

1- to 5- pt flaw

description

The character has an ordained ending planned by fate that they have somehow become aware of, it's often said that the insidious prophecies of this nature are self-fulfilling and that the more one tries to avoid this dire fate, the consequence of their actions will only hasten it's arrival.

the prophecy and flaw rating

The first element of this flaw is the prophecy itself, Storytellers should be encouraged to be creative with an unspecific wording that is open to interpretation and the 1-5 rating of the flaw reflects both two factors; how many potential enemies know of your predetermined end and how difficult it is to bring about. A secret weakness that only you knows about (well, at the start of the chronicle at least) would be a 1 point flaw. Most of Creation knowing that you're destined to be slain by "an iron tipped spear thrown by an unknown soldier" is a 5 point flaw.

destiny awaits

The predestined deathblow will always cause aggravated damage, charms may be used to defend against it as normal with the exception of a perfect defence (treat the Doom as an additional flaw of invulnerability) and of course for obvious reasons bonus dice granted by the Destiny background cannot help you escape either.
