Zavi, Hell's Blinded Bastard was never meant to be. His mother was a young peasant girl in the Marukani Alliance who had lived in the wrong village at the wrong time. A Yozi-cult managed to summon Lucien, the Guardian of Sleep, in order to track down and kill one of their many enemies. The cult was executed in a horrific bloodbath, as Lucien would not stand to be commanded by a few mortals. He cavorted freely amongst the countryside, eventually coming across Zavi's mother, and savagely raped her and left her for dead. But she did not die, and she awoke in the home of her family, her brow soothed with fresh water from the stream. 

Nine months following, after the young woman told her parents of everything, she gave birth to Zavi. Within the hour, all that had looked into Zavi's eyes had gone mad. Only his mother, for whom the curse abated, survived the tragedy, and she alone raised Zavi. Constantly kept blinded so Zavi's eyes, portals to Malfeas' evil that they were, could not drive others to madness, Zavi grew to master his state as well as any mortal could in his situation. He trained under the tutelage of an outcaste monk exiled to the Alliance, and before long his talent for swordplay was unrivaled in the small town, even defeating his master.

Rejected by all but his mother as the kin of demons, Zavi grew up somewhat stunted, and while his mother's treatment of him was not abusive or done out of hate, the young boy grew to resent his curse. He would never be allowed to marry, for indeed any who looked at his eyes went violently mad. Zavi's only childhood friend tried attacking Zavi after peeking under the blindfold, and had to be kept in chains forever after due to the severe mental break. He would only serve as a monster to any but his mother. So it was with a heavy heart that Zavi fled from home, bringing with him only his grandfather's sword and a few silver pieces.

He traveled, taking care to avoid contact with any others, meditating on his duty to Creation and to Malfeas. This meditative state, as it turned out, was the point where Zavi began to hear the voice of his demonic father, who hoped to use Zavi as a cat's paw in Creation. The resentment and hate Zavi felt exploded, and Zavi swore to murder each and every demon that hoped to worm its way into Creation.

Zavi has since trained himself as a demon-hunter, using his skill with the sword and his inner knowledge of the demonic realm to combat the forces of the Yozi. He walks Creation in search of atonement and the opportunity to kill his demon-father.
