A creation of the Exalted of the First Age the Heavenly Jade Birds are a rare breed of songbird.  Yet they are so much more.  They were made to be proper companions to the Exalted afterall.  They possess a body as long as a man's arm and a set of five luxerious tailfeathers as long again.  Each tailfeather the colour of one of the five jades.  Their voices are most beautiful as well and they have a surprisingly keen intellect.  They are much in demand as familiars which was their intention.

Sadly today they are quite rare.  A few live on the Blessed Isle, blessed with long lives but rarely able to produce young.  The care needed to ensure their young live involves matters for the most part lost to modern scholars.
