Army of Memories Approach

Return to Stark's user page.

Originally a concept designed to supplement Laeo's ability to protect his circlemates, first by generating sparring partners and "Guardians" to watch their backs and later by generating small mass combat units from his own anima manifestations. While Lossefion and other members of the party didn't like the charms as I wrote them, I still think someone might get some use from them.



Core Charm

By focusing on the memory of a fallen comrade the solar may give form to their fighting spirit, manifesting them as an idealised version of the Solar’s memory of that person with the caste mark of the Solar visible on their forehead as if at the 4-7 mote anima level. These phantom warriors are usually treated as extras and use the profiles of regular troops (p279 Exalted 2ed) and are capable of following simple orders given by the exalt or a fighting partner they are assigned to.

To throw troops into battle unprotected is folly, even when those troops have no lives to lose the battle must still be won! This charm permanently upgrades its prerequisite, equipping all conjured phantoms with lamellar armour.

A blacksmith needs his hammer, but to create artifice one requires more sophisticated tools, so is it with warriors seeking to change the face of creation. This charm permanently upgrades its prerequisite, equipping all conjured phantoms with superior versions of their standard equipment ( specific bonuses to be agreed with the ST but should reflect the nature of the troops summoned)

Only the most dedicated of soldiers may wear the title of Gunzosha, risking their lives in suicide missions and weathering the vanguard of battle. In this age the armies of the unconquered sun can do no less! This charm permanently upgrades its prerequisite, equipping all conjured phantoms with the equivalent of reinforced breastplates. The specific appearance of those upgrades should reflect the pinnacle of the summoning solar’s home nation mortal fighting forces.  





Magnitude tree

Drawing on the pain caused by the loss of his comrades the solar may now call upon small squads of phantom warriors to command. This charm permanently upgrades its prerequisite allowing the solar to conjure up to (War) phantoms at any given time.




You and what army retort Cost: 10m 1wp Mins: War 3, Essence 3 Type: permanent Duration: One day Keywords: Obvious Prerequisite charms: Circle of steel memories, foot hate armouring, was I ever that green milestone.

Solars of the Dawn caste are the generals of the unconquered sun and by drawing on the current of imminent violence inside them the solar may awaken an army of his own. This charm allows the solar to spend 10 motes and 1 point of willpower to create a magnitude 2 supplemental unit for himself and his circle. The conjured unit is made up of phantoms as in back to back remembrance, and any upgrades to that charm may be applied here.




I am Legion! Cost: (+10 motes) Mins: War 4, Essence 4 Type: permanent Duration: One day Keywords: Obvious Prerequisite charms: You and what army retort, commanding the ideal celestial army.

As the needs of the solar increase, so shall the unconquered sun provide, this charm permanently upgrades its prerequisite, allowing the solar to pay an additional 10 motes to raise the magnitude of the conjured unit by 1. It may be purchased multiple times allowing the size to be further increased, but each time the minimum war and essence requirements rise by 1 and the mote cost doubles (+20 for mag 4, +40 for mag 5 and so on).

This charm permanently upgrades its prerequisite allowing the solar to add 1 mote per phantom to the charms activation cost to upgrade them to the elite soldier profile (p280)

A leader fit for legend must have an army to match. This charm permanently upgrades its prerequisite allowing the solar to add 1 willpower to the charms activation cost to upgrade them from the elite to the heroic soldier profile (p280)





Might of the Dragons Cost: (+10 motes) Mins: War 4, Essence 4 Type: permanent Duration: One Scene Keywords: Obvious Prerequisite charms: commanding the ideal celestial army, Heroes one and all, You and what army retort

Even the mighty generals of the Dawn caste cannot command alone, this charm mimics the exaltation of the terrestrials, imbuing 5 of the phantoms created through you and what army retort with additional potency and intelligence. In mass combat these empowered phantoms act as lieutenants in the Solar’s army and allowing him to split his unit into 5 units, each 1 magnitude lower than the original, in order to increase their tactical flexibility.





Glorious Solar Solar Cost: 3wp, 3Lhl, Mins: War 5, Essence 5 Type: Simple Duration: One Day Keywords: Obvious Prerequisite charms: I am Legion; We are Gunzosha, Might of Dragons

A wise general leads from the rear, a brave general from the front and the true master of the army of one technique does both. This charm allows the solar to create a phantom in his own image and possess it by emptying his mote pools into it. For the duration of the charm the Solar’s body lies inert while his mind controls the phantom allowing him to lead the army without fear of injury. The phantom uses the Solar’s own stats, but cannot regain motes(except for overdrive), spend willpower or use charms for any ability which she does not possess an excellency. While preferable to being on the front lines this charm is not without risk as the solar is completely cut off from her body during this charms duration

Kage Bushin no jutsu

In the midst of battle misdirection is a powerful force; this charm allows phantoms conjured by back to back remembrance to be created in the image of the solar himself rather than that of a fallen comrade. This charm is specifically not compatible with You and what army retort





Tajuu Kage bushin no jutsu

Cost: n/a Mins: Larceny 4, Essence 4 Type: permanent Duration: - Keywords: Illusion Prerequisite charms: Kage bushin no jutsu

“Me, me, me, me, me.” “…Me too.” This charm upgrades its prerequisite so that it is compatible with you and what army retort
