Jaguars closely resemble leopards and treepards though are built more heavily than a leopard with shorter legs. The coat is a light yellow and coveres in open spots with a white belly. Black jaguars have been seen in the Southwest. They are solitary ambush hunters, who favor the stalk and kill approach, and prefer dense forest but will venture out to more lightly wooded areas. Like tigers, jaguars enjoy swimming and tend to stay near bodies of water.
