This snake has a wide but not triangular head with small gold to silver eyes and vertical pupils. The body is very heavy. The scales are keeled and colorations varies greatly but is typically a yellow or light brown body with darker stripes. These snakes are good swimmers. When threatened an adder will swell its body and hiss or puff air out. Like the asp, the adder is found across Creation.
