Nengaldo

Once, a being of Creation set food into the Wyld. Who he was, what he wanted, or even if it was a he at all are not remembered, for they are not important. What was important was the sense of order that he brought and left in his wake. The idea that chaos was not the only way had been around for some time, even if it was rather unpopular and bullied by the other ideas, but upon seeing this being walk the Wyld, it became enlightened. Part of it split away and agglutinated, and named itself, and Nengaldo thought "What shall I make next?"

Finding the world shaped itself to his whims, he made everything. He dreamed and crafted people, cities, countries and worlds from the raw chaos around him, all of which vanished back into nothing when he moved on to the next project. On his wanderings he learned how to make better things, and crafted himself clothes and travelling accoutrements. For a while he played the itinerant tinker, travelling the courts of the fair and involving himself in the periphery of their games, and quickly realised that he wanted more. He wanted games that he had created and written the rules for, so that when other people played in them they did him all the more honour. As it was, they called him 'commoner' and spurned his intrigues and romances. Nengaldo hatched a plan.

He went back to where he had sprung up. He recognised it despite the fact that it was completely different in every respect. Sitting there, he thought about his anger at being excluded from the stories and entertainments of the fair courts. Taking his anger, he crafted it into shape and sentience, and exulted when it took form before him. He named it Asmar and placed its Heart neatly next to his own. Finding that he still had some anger left, he took it and his uncanny recognition of his birthplace and shaped them into a new form. This too took its own form and Nengaldo called it Sesamairi. In naming it, he held its Heart, and slipped it into his form alongside his own and Asmar's. He looked at his creations, and was proud.

They lacked motivation though, these siblings, and Nengaldo spent many indeterminate periods of time crafting them into more perfect forms. He forged their graces, turning them into beings like himself, and opened them to the ability to feed. Asmar inclined naturally towards violence and action, and displayed himself and his prowess proudly. Sesamairi's penchant for physical combat was strong also, but she preferred more subtle methods of doing harm. Nengaldo formed them as a matched pair and instilled in them a strong rivalry that they might be inclined to squabble for his entertainment.

That done, he returned to the courts of the northeast to display his new children.

The typical form Nengaldo adopts is a tall, regal man made of some kind of mobile grey stone not found in Creation. His mouth naturally curves downward in a displeased expression, and he rarely smiles even when greatly pleased. His voice is crystalline and sounds as if it comes from a deep cave, but despite its distant beauty he never has anything good to say. He wears robes made of some kind of fluid white jade embossed with dark iron, one of his finer gossamer weavings. His wings are a mere skeleton of basalt in the appropriate shape, but they bear him aloft well enough.
