Silk executes a quick kata and strikes out towards his opponent, a lance of swirling golden purple essence streaming forth from his hand or weapon. As he does so his shadow explodes into a giant archnid shape and lunges forward to pounce on his opponent's shadow, piercing it with dripping mandibles oozing purplish-green essence.

There once was a Solar called Rorex Cael. He was from a small town in the Scavenger Lands. His exaltation did little to disrupt his life, for his village was used to creatures and odd powers. Many god-blooded and even a few outcast terrestrials were counted amongst the population there. Rorex’s transformation simply opened up the number of opportunities available to both himself and his closest friends. These friends were Marcus, Delia, and Delia’s half-sister Lysandra. Both Marcus and Delia were mortal, but Lysandra had the blood of the small gods running though her veins. Marcus was the son of the village chief and excelled at everything he did. Rorex was always very envious of Marcus, and when he exalted, he finally found a sense of worth in his newfound superiority.
These four formed an adventuring group that would scrounge nearby ruins in hopes to find artifacts and relics to sell to the surrounding Scavenger Lords. As if one exalt wasn’t enough, Marcus was also chosen by Sol Invictus soon after Rorex. This encouraged the youths to take greater risks and wander further a field. By and large things went well. The only complication arose from the fact that Rorex had very strong feelings for both Delia and Lysandra, which was a source of tension amongst the group. Eventually Rorex chose Delia, but soon after professing his love tragedy struck. While exploring a complex and dangerous tomb, the group awoke potent sentinels. The group fought fiercely and was eventually triumphant, though Delia lost her life in the process. Rorex was the closest to her at the time of her death and was unable to reach her in time to save her. Rorex felt that if only he was stronger, that if he were as good as Marcus, he would have been able to save Delia. Needless to say, he was devastated by her loss. Soon after, Lysandra turned to Marcus for comfort in her loss and Rorex’s deep-set feelings of inadequacy and inferiority became deep-set and dangerous. He quickly alienated his friends and became very withdrawn.

The group, though shaken, moved on, eventually acquiring other exalted member and becoming a circle. Rorex spent all of his time training and engaging in petty contests to prove his superiority. No achievement or level of success was good enough, however, for he always felt that he was second best and that his allies looked down on him and thought of him as an inferior. Eventually the Gold Faction learned of the existence of this circle and began scouting them. During the course of this investigation, they learned of Rorex’s inferiority complex and knew they had found themselves a tool. Acting through the Cult of the Illuminated, they approached Rorex's circle, offering knowledge and power in exchange for service to their cause. Marcus and the others were distrustful and refused aid. Rorex chose to accept against his circle’s better judgment.

The Gold Faction began to shape Rorex into a weapon. In addition to providing him with tutelage they bound and warped his mind with charms. This further alienated Rorex from his circle. He would spend long months away, either training or destroying foes of the Gold Faction. Rorex’s lust for power, however, was not sated by what the Cult had to offer. Convinced they were holding back on him in an effort to control him and maintain their superiority, Rorex sought other routes to power. It was then that he began to deal with the Yozi. He gladly offered favors and services in exchange for tangible power and illusory free will. His already twisted mind was further bent by the powerful charms of his Yozi and Akuma instructors. It was around this time that the being known as Rorex Cael ceased to exist and Mercurial Silk was born.
The Gold Faction was unable to detect the meddling of the Yozi, and, in characteristic hubris, believed they could still control Silk despite his meteoric and mysterious increase in power. Silk’s notoriety reached the Bronze Faction, and they began to move against him in an attempt to deny the Gold Faction a powerful tool. Naturally, they brought their own weapon to bear against him: the Wyld Hunt.

Finally, Marcus became fed up with Silk’s behavior and confronted him. It was here that Marcus learned the true extent of his former friend’s dealings with the Cult and with the Yozi. Marcus could not believe how far Silk had fallen and offered to help. Silk responded with violence. The two fought and Silk won. Finally convinced of his own superiority, Silk left Marcus for dead and returned to the Yozi.

This brings us to the present day. Mercurial Silk is twisted, selfish, and utterly sociopathic. He wanders the world battling and destroying to prove his own worth and superiority. He does what he wants, whenever he wants, feeling that it is his right to do so. His mind has become warped and unstable under the strain of the magics afflicting it. He still performs tasks for both the Cult and for the Ebon Dragon. The Cult sees him as an unpredictable yet potent weapon, though they are beginning to have second thoughts whether his effectiveness is worth the risk in employing him. The Ebon Dragon uses Silk when necessary, but is content to let him rampage across creation. In fact, this behavior is actively encouraged and supported. Marcus survived the encounter with Silk, and he feels that he is responsible for dealing with what Rorex has become. In the memory of the friendship they once shared, Marcus will bring peace to his one time companion: either by curing him, or destroying him.

Mercurial Silk has the appearance of an androgynously beautiful youth. He has a slender, wiry build and stands about 5’ 10”. He has fine, strawberry blond hair, which he wears short and tousled. His eyes are bi-colored, the left being blue, and the right being green. He is generally very relaxed in demeanor and playful in attitude in most situations, up to and including when razing entire villages to the ground. His emotional instability sporadically and abruptly surfaces in the form of fits of mania, violence, depression, and paranoia. Though his wardrobe is in a constant state of flux, there are three things he keeps on his person at all times: A pair of etched orihalcom bracers, the Manacles Divine. Each bracer sports a thick ring attached to its outer face. His serpent sting staff, Versatility in Disjunction, is made from Orihalcom and a strange brass like substance; each section of the staff is styled into a draconian form. Finally, a massive crystal is suspended from his belt on an adamant chain. The Dark Draconian Carbuncle is a repository of essence and, when full, is an eye watering, light sucking color that is to black what the sea is to the color blue.

XP expenditures to come. I'm basing this character off of an antagonist in one of my old games. While I'm tempted to give him some more hearthstones, I don't want to make this a gear based challenge. Took the Essence Gem mainly to stay in league with Shun.-[[Ambisinister]]

Hm... do you really want to have a high compassion and low temperance? - IanPrice

I know it puts me at a serious disadvantage against the way you wrote GoD Form, but it seems kinda cheesy to me to custom tailor the character for this fight. Maybe I'll swap his compassion and conviction, but a low temperance is intrinsic to the character. Every fighter should have a weakness or four and a low temperance is part of this guy's package.  These four formed an adventuring group that would scrounge nearby ruins in hopes to find artifacts and relics to sell to the surrounding Scavenger Lords. As if one exalt wasn’t enough, Marcus was also chosen by Sol Invictus soon after Rorex. This encouraged the youths to take greater risks and wander further a field. By and large things went well. The only complication arose from the fact that Rorex had very strong feelings for both Delia and Lysandra, which was a source of tension amongst the group. Eventually Rorex chose Delia, but soon after professing his love tragedy struck. While exploring a complex and dangerous tomb, the group awoke potent sentinels. The group fought fiercely and was eventually triumphant, though Delia lost her life in the process. Rorex was the closest to her at the time of her death and was unable to reach her in time to save her. Rorex felt that if only he was stronger, that if he were as good as Marcus, he would have been able to save Delia. Needless to say, he was devastated by her loss. Soon after, Lysandra turned to Marcus for comfort in her loss and Rorex’s deep-set feelings of inadequacy and inferiority became deep-set and dangerous. He quickly alienated his friends and became very withdrawn.

 The Gold Faction began to shape Rorex into a weapon. In addition to providing him with tutelage they bound and warped his mind with charms. This further alienated Rorex from his circle. He would spend long months away, either training or destroying foes of the Gold Faction. Rorex’s lust for power, however, was not sated by what the Cult had to offer. Convinced they were holding back on him in an effort to control him and maintain their superiority, Rorex sought other routes to power. It was then that he began to deal with the Yozi. He gladly offered favors and services in exchange for tangible power and illusory free will. His already twisted mind was further bent by the powerful charms of his Yozi and Akuma instructors. It was around this time that the being known as Rorex Cael ceased to exist and Mercurial Silk was born.
 The Gold Faction was unable to detect the meddling of the Yozi, and, in characteristic hubris, believed they could still control Silk despite his meteoric and mysterious increase in power. Silk’s notoriety reached the Bronze Faction, and they began to move against him in an attempt to deny the Gold Faction a powerful tool. Naturally, they brought their own weapon to bear against him: the Wyld Hunt.

 This brings us to the present day. Mercurial Silk is twisted, selfish, and utterly sociopathic. He wanders the world battling and destroying to prove his own worth and superiority. He does what he wants, whenever he wants, feeling that it is his right to do so. His mind has become warped and unstable under the strain of the magics afflicting it. He still performs tasks for both the Cult and for the Ebon Dragon. The Cult sees him as an unpredictable yet potent weapon, though they are beginning to have second thoughts whether his effectiveness is worth the risk in employing him. The Ebon Dragon uses Silk when necessary, but is content to let him rampage across creation. In fact, this behavior is actively encouraged and supported. Marcus survived the encounter with Silk, and he feels that he is responsible for dealing with what Rorex has become. In the memory of the friendship they once shared, Marcus will bring peace to his one time companion: either by curing him, or destroying him.

Maybe I'll swap his compassion and conviction, but a low temperance is intrinsic to the character. Every fighter should have a weakness or four and a low temperance is part of this guy's package.
