'Thought'

Fern looks down upon the strange animals below... they are much like Fern, two legs, two arms, a pelt that only covers the top of the head... except in one case, though there are differences, too; none have green hair, and there are these strange paired growths on their chests, every last one of them. Fern definitely doesn't have anything like that, and they are oddly compelling to watch. They are watering inside this strangely angular cave. With metal-lined pools. And metal perches affixed to the ceiling. Nobody seems to use them except Fern.

Most interesting, these flat-landers. Not very perceptive, though. The fruit Fern's pilfered help slake Fern's thirst and hunger, but he does not understand what he is doing in this strange, nigh-treeless land.

'I am Chosen. My duty is to bring freedom and <nowiki>rightEouSneSs</nowiki>' Fern immediately stops contemplating the visions and The Voice. The presence, His Presence and vastness had fit poorly within the confines of Fern's mind, had strained his Essence nearly beyond his capacity to bear during that long month. Fern is where he needs to be, and if the ache in his head is any indication, Fern'd be free to contemplate the visions within a week or two without being driven insensate.

Below Fern's hiding spot food is brought in, and the flat-landers wrap themselves in gossamer garments and veils. Benches and chairs are brought in and the metal pools are emptied and carried away... eventually people dressed in heavier clothes come in, leading is a muscular man bearing a heavy curved blade, a cruel-looking man bearing much gold and jade jewelry, and also a Dragons' Get (hardly older than Fern) in similarly fine clothes bearing a large Red Jade blade. There are others but their manner speaks of being but members of the herd. These first three... the muscular be-turbaned one radiates aggresiveness. The Dragon's Get seems to be perfunctorily ignoring the muscled one, while at the same time not letting anything escape his gaze. He never looks up though.

They really are flat-landers, living in a flat world...

One of the flat-landers in shimmering veils and little else starts to undulate and pirouette on a low rise before the assembled new arrivals. It is very mesmerizing.

*chaos ensues (Razeer <nowiki>blood-thirsty/Venn</nowiki> Temperate)
*Exaltation (many wonder about being demons)
*the Razeer flees/the Sultan drags off Cathak Venn for a weapon
*Fern smacks sword into a short jagged thing for Hareem
*Fern drops large chunk of palace on guards outside of Palace
*Arndis disposes her followers and spots huge kite
*staredown in the museum
*Aura returns from reinforcing the workers revolt
*group gathers and find Venn
*Venn disarmed and Fern talks to Razor Wind’s Spirit while Arndis seduces King
*Venn retreats after sword returned to him
*big robot. Aura punches out Sultan
*treasury raided (letters of credit!)
*huge kite is rebuilt (Fern nuzzles Arndis around this time)
*Hasan is found and supplies grabbed
*robot is told to head south 2 days
*flee on rebuilt kite
*last-minute stowaway
*go west
*huge stepped pyramid with green jade capped walls and HUGE gates
*meet Hunter-Kind
*Hunter-Kind need women (“What are girls?”)
*6T smells nice (Fern goes in for closer inspection)
*tea (dainty little cups)
*“writing?”
*the dragon-blooded approach
*6T is the Maker
