This very simple, un-adorned sphere of Orichalcum held in a band of silver is an example of one of the simplest artifacts ever made by the Solars. Based on the most fundamental bond between a Solar Exalted and the Sun, this artifact acts as a sort of conduit for sunlight. Originally it acted as a sort of battery, storing up vast quantities of light and releasing it in a spectacular fashion, often permanently blinding even those who were prepared and closed their eyes or turned away. Now, after great age and a mishap in recharging it from an artificial source (a tower of blinding light found in Chiaroscuro), it’s powers are much more limited. When a Solar infuses the amulet with their essence, it responds with a burst of pure sunlight, dazzling the eyes of the unwary.<br />

Activation costs 3 motes of essence. In the instant the essence is spent all onlookers within a 30-foot distance who are looking at the solar (easily achieved by a yell or gesture or any other means of attracting attention) become blind for a round as the sunshine overwhelms their senses, and then suffer a –1 penalty for any action requiring sight in the following round due to the spots dancing in their eyes.<br />
