History in Brief: ThePowersOftheEarth is basically Anachronism 101, but for the heck of it....

In the First Age, the world was good. Then the Solars went berserk and the Dragon Blooded had to put them down. The sleeping Malfeans attacked with the Great Contagion, the Fair Folk invaded, and Third Circle Demons who had been bound by the vanished Solars joined them. Monsters of all sorts roamed the land.

For 400 years, the world was very dark indeed. The Gods swung shut the gates of Yu-Shan, and the glorious First Age transporation networks died, stranding Exalts and Gods whereever they happened to be. The remaining Dragon Blooded, trained for teamwork, silently banded together with whoever they found themselves near, and formed small bands that fought back whatever evil they saw. These warlords established small safe havens throughout Creation. Gradually, the Dragon Blooded started to win, and the safe havens made treaties with each other, forming kingdoms. The world was at peace, but the glory of the First Age had been entirely lost.

Except on the Blessed Isle. Here Sidereals had manned the First Age Defense Systems, and the land had stayed peaceful and beautiful. They quickly formed treaties with the Dragon Blooded kingdoms. They distributed First Age teleporation gates to the greatest Dragon Blooded cities, and the Realm of Heavenly Peace extended throughout the land. The Dragon Blooded maintained their martial tradition, fighting back monsters whereever they appeared.

That was 400 years ago.
