Look people, this charm is shit. It's useless. I bought it and wept, because my character was haemorrhaging experience out the nose just to get to some useful defenses.

Activating this charm is like punching yourself in the genitals - except with a higher mote cost. It's actively counterproductive, like few others are. Every time I read through the solar book I find some other charm that I'd overlooked the incredible power of; and yet there is this thing. So: gone.

And now, the new and improved:
Bulwark Stance
Cost: 1 mote
Duration: instant
Type: reflexive
Min. Ability: 3
Min Essence: 1
Prereqs: Dipping Swallow Defense
The solar is a bulwark, a wall that holds back the rushing tides from that which they protect. He is anywhere and everywhere, ready and eager to protect all those he cares about. 
The solar may parry an attack made against a target within his melee range, without penalty. This does not change the target of the attack, merely allows the solar to defend on another's behalf. The original target of the attack may also parry the attack. This parry can only be activated before it's target's defenses have been rolled - it is at best difficult to tell before the charm is activated whether it is necessary. This charm does not grant a parry action, just allows one to be redirected. 
This charm is compatible with counterattack charms, as long as they are not as a result of personally being attacked, as in Steel Devil Style.

: Generally speaking, no. This is better for two reasons: (1) there is a penalty for trying to block attacks against others (I usually say +1 difficulty, but there's no set rule), and (2) this combines with Charms that let you parry attacks against you. - FrivYeti

: It's already a martial arts charm in a terrestrial tree; I changed it a bit. It would be a tricky thing to do that would probably have some difficulty attached if I were to try it; and Friv would certainly not let me do it on every attack that came at someone. In this case, combined with a persistant, it's a damn useful effect. One mote to stop people from dying! Woo! - TheHoverpope
