= The God Factory. =

After the Contagion, the Swords of Luna faced a major problem. They needed more troops. Granted, they could produce beastmen, and did, but mortal soldiers, however numerous were just not capable of standing off the hordes of the Fae. Lunars could, but there weren’t many of them, and no way to make more. (at least not without the aid of the Incarna, if then). The elders of the Swords of Luna all worked on the best way to solve this problem. Some created new biological creations, living warstriders and great beasts, while others focused on more traditional magical designs, a few <br> thought to create their own new exalts.

But Cara Tiger Eye had a different solution:
She would make Gods.

Cara had been a noted first age savant, specializing in the study of disembodied essence patterns (Gods and spirits) and she had taken much of her research with her. She knew (and had helped them do it) how Solars awakened the little gods in the warstriders—and she decided to take the effort one step further. Deep in the Wyld, in a zone protected by reality engines, she erected a Manse, produced to her own, exacting specifications by her beastmen servants. She worked to produce as many essence manipulators as she could, and then set to work.

For worship could enhance a god beyond its normal power and Cara took advantage of that. Essence and prayers, channeled down specially designed geomantic pathways, into a central chamber where a Least God waited, bathed in the combination of essence energy and prayer.

It took nearly a year, but in the end, Cara had created a godly warrior. More powerful then most of her mortals, and more capable, and more importantly, imprinted with loyalty to the cause of the Swords of Luna. At the next gathering, she showed off her new development, pointing out that the God factory didn’t produce warmachines that needed hearthstones, but independent, sentient creatures.

Her compatriots were pleased and impressed.

They were also more than a little worried about the likely reaction of Yu Shan, and it was agreed that the new Gods would not be flaunted in creation, but used solely on the fringes. Should the Celestial order complain, they would simply be reassured that as the Fae were defeated, these gods would be given proper places in the celestial order.

Over the next several hundred years, the God Factories proliferated, with at least one at every cardinal direction. Many tribes were assigned gods, who marched to war with the Lunars, while receiving the prayers of their tribes. Geomantically designed prayer centers increased the power of these prayers, both to existing Gods and to those Gods who were being created, and the Lunars made great use of their new allies/weapons. While only one component of the arsenal of the Swords, the Gods of the Lunars are a powerful part of that arsenal…and one that provides a mighty weapon for them.

Well, this is the beginning of an idea I had over at rpgnet-- it seems like the solars get the love for mad engineerin, but the Lunars are just as old as they are, and in some respects are more impressive-- so far, of all the Exalts, the Lunars are the only group to have successfully mucked about with their own exaltations, and so facing the endless hordes of the Fae, breeding beastmen is good...but mundane. Beneath what a properly mad exalt might decide to do with SCIENCE!

When you put a space at the beginning of a line, it resorts to 'fixed width' mode, for use in formatting things precisely. I just removed the leading spaces. -- GL
