In the First Age, Issa Nahren stood in the shadows of her Solar mate, a Twilight whose foremost passion was debate on the floor of the Deliberative. Known by most as the Hundred Headed Viper, she served as his Spymistress, right hand and sometime lover, seeing to the extended network of contacts he cultivated, doing what needed to be done - often when her Solar mate found it beneath her dignity - and towards the end, moderating the excesses of his growing instability.

When the Solars fell, Nahren found herself trapped on the Blessed Isle - tending to her mates affairs while he dined with his cohorts - and unable to flee to the threshold with the rest of her kind. She eluded capture for four months through her considerable talent at stealth and shapeshifting, dispensing secrets, accumulated wealth or parting advise to the vast network the pair had built before finally being caught and slain on the footsteps of a longtime friend's manse - killing the Sidereal who had tracked her and four Dragonblooded for their trouble.

Toras Shien is not his First Age predecessor - not yet at least. A creature of low cunning, but a defined sense of justice and order, Violet Fox of Shadows darts around the Threshold, eschewing raising an army of beastmen or building a pet republic in favor of putting the Realm in a position to be replaced. Taxes absconded with, awkward bribes - or young women - placed in the hands of the right officials right before an inspection, and key information slipped to Lunars further in the Threshold are all activities he's known to indulge in. There is little pattern to his acts though, and he seems to move as if pulled by an unknown force not even he fully understands- perhaps seeking a Solar to give his skills purpose.
