His voice has recently broken and often sounds a bit creaky unless he pays attention to it.

BACKGROUND 
House Nellens rejoiced when Nellens Mahana’s youngest son Myka Exalted like his mother once did and added to the handful of Dragon-Blooded the house claims. Myka himself tried to take pleasure in Exalting, but found it hard when his jealous still-mortal elder siblings withdrew from him and his mother started to preach about the great responsibility he now bears to his house.

During the last years of the primary school Myka began to be ashamed of House Nellens with its pariah status and few Dragon-Blooded. Most of the other houses seemed so much greater to him. When his mother stressed that she wanted Myka to join the Spiral Academy, he soon started to practice and learn (often by mistake) mystical arts, hoping to make it to the Heptagram where he thought the Great Houses had less meaning.

Fortunately his teachers agreed with him and recommended Myka to the Heptagram. Nellens Mahana initially opposed this point of view but finally acknowledged that Myka could make most of his talents there. Myka now waits his transportation to the Isle of Voices. He hopes to do well there, despite his House, and to finally decide whether or not he should dedicate himself to House Nellens like his mother has done.
