Aranea

These spirits of secrets appear as empty, billowing suits of clothes (robes, dresses, tunic and trousers) as if worn by some invisible person. However from time to time an observer might see a small indentation moving around the cloth, as if some small snake or spider inhabited the interior of the clothes. Whatever this creature is, none have ever seen it. Slaying an Aranea results in the collapse of the clothing with nothing to be found within.

Aranea are the gossips of the Spirit Courts and Yu Shan, spreading the news of the doings of man, Exalt and spirit across Creation. Yet their true love is for secrets, and measure their value by how few people know the secret. Truly for the Aranea, a secret shared is a secret no more. They are willing to divulge secrets however, so long as they are traded a secret known to even fewer people.

Araneas powers include the ability to transport themselves across Creation, to cast their senses far and wide, to scry out subjects of interest in pools of water or the haze of a rainbow, to know something of the future spun on the Loom of Fate, to know the history of an item or place and to read the minds and memories of mortals and Exalts.

Araneas are no great combatants- preferring instead to flee or dematerialise. If bound and threatened with death, they may well try to bargain their way out with knowledge of their greatest secrets. But thereafter, their attacker will find they can no longer keep secret any act or thought as avenging Aranea spread word of their secrets to the 5 corners of Creation.
