The Vicious River, Pack

These three, relatively young Lunars are all members of the Society of the Moon. They claim a modest, heavily forested, swampy territory approximately halfway between Nexus and Larjyn. Normally, they are content to tend their communal Manse, hunt the raksha and the dead, and recruit followers from the various tribes, willingly or not.

Dark Eyes, the leader of the pack and a No Moon, is a diminutive woman, standing just barely five feet from the ground, with black hair that cascades to touch the very backs of her heels. As per the traditions of her birth tribe, she wears the voluminous white robes of a seer, along with the emerald veil of a shaman at all times. She believes that this aids her in her congress with the spirit world. Though young, she is an accomplished sorceress and is hungry for new knowledge. She despises demons, however, and refuses to perform magic that might call them up from their prison. She is of two minds regarding the returned Solars; while she recognizes the ancient ties that bind her people to theirs, she has no desire to submit to anyone who does not earn her respect. Dark Eyes is a witty person with a keen eye for black comedy and tends toward the cynical.

Mykyr Esos is a Changing Moon and the second member of the Vicious River. He is tall and willowy, with the tawny complexion of a Southeasterner. He wears very little, so as to ensure his freedom of movement, and does not carry weapons under normal circumstances. Normally, his wardrobe consists of a pair of deerskin pants and little else. He is primarily a scout and observer; he enjoys sneaking and has some voyeuristic tendencies. Though morbid and quiet around strangers, he is, if not cheerful, then certainly friendly with those he considers in his confidences. He views the return of the Solars with unabated interest and a considerable desire to find out all he can about their powers and viewpoints.

Bright Orchid, a Full Moon, is the third member of the Vicious River. She is a beautiful woman with hair so blonde that it shimmers sea-green in the light. Her eyes, the color of burgundy wine, are piercing and entrancing and many find it difficult to avoid her gaze. She is something of a mediator between the reserved Mykryr and the scathingly cynical Dark Eyes; her personality is calm, but pleasant. She is quite charismatic and often serves as the pack's outward face. She is, however, a talented duelist and does not hesitate to use violence if the circumstance warrants. The return of the Solars holds little interest in her mind and she has yet to form an opinion.

The Seat of the Vicious River

This low-slung building sits half-way in the river and half-way on its bank. The Manse's entrance is an elegant door of green glass, which can become opaque or transparent at its owner's will, set in a front of immaculate white marble, untouched be mud or vegetation. A thin sheen of running water flows down its surface at all times, from the gently domed roof.

Inside, the foyer is tranquil and calming, with a floor of black marble set with tiny gemstones. The room is round and slightly narrow, leading visitors onward, toward the river. The passageway that leads underwater is made of the same black marble, lit by strange patterns of greenish light from the room beyond.

It is this final room that is the focal point of the Manse. It is fully submersed in the water and crafted entirely from green-tinted glass. The riverbed is plainly visible beneath one's feet. and in the center of the room, at a point that naturally draws the eye, there sits a delicate moonsilver fountain. It is apparent that something should rest in the fountain's center, but nothing does.
