The only real revision to the Combo rules involved involves Willpower cost. The flat-rate point of willpower to activate a combo is no longer required, and if a character uses a charm that is comboed with other charms, they do not need to declare they are using a combo at that moment to be able to use the other charms in the combo later in the turn. However, if a character spends 10 or more motes on a turn they are using a combo, they must spend one point of willpower for every 10 motes they spent on the charms in the combo (i.e. 10-19 motes -> 1 willpower, 20-29 motes -> 2 willpower, etc.) or the combo fails.

This rule was designed to allow relatively inexpensive (and thus, presumably, less powerful) combos from draining a character's willpower, making them more commonly usable, while making "super-attack" combos more expensive.

 Damn ninjas! They've got it half right. hplovescats. 

The exception to this rule is when a Charm in the Combo costs a Willpower. When a Combo containing one of those charms is activated, the character must expend a Willpower at the Combo's declaration. However, this Willpower is counted as if it were spent using one of those charms.

Example: Julian activates Blossom of Ages , his Excellent Strike / Hungry Tiger / Fire and Stones / Golden Essence Block / Heavenly Guardian Combo when attacking Glory of the Endless Sigh, hoping to end the battle quickly. He spends the necessary motes to activate the Combo, plus 1 Willpower, because Heavenly Guardian costs a Willpower. When Glory attacks with a mega combo of his own, Julian uses Heavenly Guardian, but only spends 3 motes, because he already spent that Willpower activating the Combo.

This rule is intended to keep Combos with low costs (The above Combo only costs 3m at activation!) from including optional perfect defenses, which IMO, leads to a lack of diversity in tactics.

Ah ha! The ninjas never heard about that portion of the rules change. Tricksy Storyteller...
