A lancer blade is a daiklaive that developed in the middle years of the First Age. It is as long as a grand daiklaive, but only a few inches wide, about half the width of a normal daiklaive in fact. Halfway up the blade, in about a 6 inch area, the edge disappears and there is effectively a second handle at that point. This was to allow a wielder of this blade to grab along its great length and twist and move it with all the advantages of a quarterstaff while keeping the deadly edge of a daiklaive.

This weapon is used exclusively by the exalted, as mortal weapons are too heavy to properly wield like this. This weapon was seen as a gentleman's weapon, one mastered due to the complexities in its proper use. Most weapons carried a secondary enchantment or two, since compared to the heavier Grand Daiklaive there was less magical material to enchant.
