Old Cedar likes things to be done as they've always been done; after all, society has survived in this manner since the Great Contagion. By observing the proper forms and protocol, the wheels of society turn smoothly, to the benefit of all. When not working on his philosophy, he is meditating through the medium of the bow or teaching his pupils the arts of archery, philosophy, and government. (Essentially, he's a classic wandering Chinese Confucian scholar.)

=== Biography ===
Formerly a minor bureaucrat in the great metropolis of Great Forks, Old Cedar fell afoul of intrigues within that city's court system and left before his name could be further dishonored. Since then, nearly half a century ago, he has wandered the river valleys of the East as an archery teacher and occasional advisor, finding employment where he can. He is accompanied by a pair of mortal students, and is slowly developing a body of philosophy centered on the virtues of tradition.

=== Primary Aptitudes ===
Combat: Excellent. Though he has little open battlefield experience, Old Cedar is a master archer. He can fill the sky with arrows and pluck a swallow from a branch half a mile away. 
Diplomacy: Average. When it comes to interpersonal relations, Old Cedar is unexceptional, though he has a talent for bureaucracy. 
Espionage: Average. Intelligent but completely untrained in matters of secrecy. 
Leadership: Average. Old Cedar is uninspiring and hidebound, but is an excellent organizer and bureaucrat. 
Magic: Good. Old Cedar has no tutoring in the occult as such, but is an expert healer and scholar. Further, he has mastered his Essence sufficient that he may undergo initiation into the Emerald Circle of Sorcery.

Loyalty Estimate: Average. Old Cedar is used to things being as they were, and the coming of the Solar Exalted is a major shake-up to his world view. However, he also stands by his word – even if unenforced by the bindings of Heaven – and so long as his new masters observe the proper forms, he will serve faithfully.
