Devouring Whirlpool Technique

Anyone who attacks a fae using this technique feels as if his essence is getting sucked into a whirlpool and sees the magical energies being drained out of his body. A fae must pay the mote and activate this charm BEFORE her opponent makes his attack. If the attack connects--even if it doesn't do any damage--the fae rolls stamina + endurance. She absorbs her successes on that roll in motes of essence from her attacker's essence pool. However, if the opponent misses or his attack is completely parried or dodged, this charm has no effect and the mote spent in its activation is wasted.

For example, Allad attacks Qingu twice. Qingu reflexively pays 1 mote to activate this charm for each attack. Allad attacks and connects but Qingu soaks all damage. Qingu absorbs his successes on his stamina+endurace roll, but does not gain back the mote he spent to activate the charm. Allad’s second attack misses, and Qingu absorbs nothing. Therefore his net gain in essence is stanima+resistance - 2.
