== Searing Venom Gage ==

Similar in design to many other similar weapons, the Searing Venom Gage is a more pacifistic than normal weapon for the minions of Oblivion, but even the servants of the Malfeans must acknowledge that sometimes a particular enemy can be more useful alive than dead. It is for this purpose that this artefact was created. In appearance a series of rings attached to leather straps with a single plate at the heart, the Gage fits inside the hand of the Exalt wearing it.

Simply by making a throwing motion and expending three motes, the Searing Venom Gage creates a bolt of powerful paralytic venom that is then hurled by the character at his target. The bolt has a damage rating and extra successes add to it as usual, but the character may only soak this “damage” with his Stamina, and for every level of damage the attack would have caused to its target it instead removes one dot of Dexterity. The target may reflexively roll his Stamina + Resistance as his body tries to fight off the magical venom – every success on this roll reduces the amount of Dexterity lost by one. Should the target be reduced to zero Dexterity then he is completely paralysed. Lost Dexterity points return at the end of the scene.

The Searing Venom Gage theoretically benefits from the Five Magical Material bonuses, but since the only examples seen thus far are made of soulsteel this has yet to be verified. It costs four committed motes to attune to a Searing Venom Gage.
