The Empyreal Vertex is an Orichalcom Essence projection weapon. It was designed by the Dawn Caste Reynard Greytalon and quickly became his signature armament. The weapon is long and slender in shape, with a grip and trigger mechanism about two thirds of the way up its length and a short stock at the end. It is exquisitely wrought from Orichalcom and Adamamant in Greytalon’s fluid, curving, organic style. Red Jade spurs peek out from just behind the front of the weapon, where the White, Blue, and Green Jade essence emitter is housed, and serve as essence vents. There are three hearthstone sockets, one on the underside of the weapon in front of the trigger and two on top towards the stock. A hearthstone of at least level three must be set into one of these sockets for the weapon to function. &lt;br /&gt;

The Empyreal Vertex is essentially a scaled down and highly focused essence cannon. In its main mode of operation it fires bolts of concentrated golden essence that sear and burn its targets. The semi tangible nature of these attacks coupled with their impressive speed reduce all non-magically aided PDVs by 2 (any charm, artifact, or sorcerous effect which benefits the defender’s PDV in any way negates this effect). The weapon has a secondary mode of fire designed to subdue targets instead of melt them. If a target receives damage from a subdual shot he suffers a -1 internal penalty for the rest of the scene. This is a crippling effect that can stack up to four times. Toggling between firing modes is a reflexive action, but both modes cannot be used within a single tick.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The feature for which the weapon gets its name is a stunning essence shaping and aligning effect that shapes local ambient essence flows into a swirling vortex of paths that draw attacks towards the target. This obviously manifests as a halo of golden light appearing on the target that grows in brilliance. So long as the character is within 300 yards of the target this effect enhances the aim action allowing it to stack for up to six ticks instead of three. By spending five motes of essence the character may pass on the benefits of his aim action to anyone attacking the target of his aim action. This effect persists until the character aborts the aim action. &lt;br /&gt;
