Stumbling Introduction 2.0!

I'm an a-typical nerd-boy from Seattle, Washington who got into Exalted mainly cause of online friends. Im a part time pet-care specialist (aka dog-walker, but the other one makes me feel more important). In my free time, I ramble about nothing in particular to online friends and occasionally hammer something somewhat interesting out of the results.

Bits of Fluff
* The Boil : A dirty, foul industrial city in the north. Created for the "Dance of Angels" campaign. Somehow even almost finished.
* Brothers of the Cruciform Sword
* The Bride of Worms
* The Fiery Hesiesh Youth Murder Society
* The Rag-and-Bone Man
* Natural Wonders of Creation : At the moment, only one item.
* Rubedo - City of the Black Sun. Home to the Gisonen Alchemists.
* The Titans : Remember them?

Crunchy Stuff
* Alchemy : New formulas!
* The Amiliki : Highly trained mortal agents of the Gold Faction.
* The Empyrean : Divine servants of a child-like Primordial. A very slow moving attempt to bring angels into Exalted.
* Laboratory : A background that covers the mortal version of a manse. Potentially useful to the Exalted, too! ... maybe.
* Rituals : Greater workings of mortal magic.

Charms
* Agony of Existence Path : Demon-Blood Charms for drawing pain from suffering.
* Lonesome Heirs of Ash Path : Ghost-Blood Charms for making friends.
* Unyielding Effigy Path : Arcanoi for those Ghosts who have not yet given up on life.

Abyssal
* Abyssal Performance : Abyssal in more ways than one. Less than successful attempt to make Abyssal bard Charms.

Terrestrial
* Dragon-Blooded Endurance
* Dragon-Blooded Lore
* Dragon-Blood Presence : Fiery Charms that interact with your anima.
* Dragon-Blood Socialize : Words can hurt.

Solar
* Solar Bureaucracy : Writing off.
* Sunlit Fortress Path : Golden Barriers.
* Solar Performance : Behold the King...
* Solar Survival : Lord of the Land.

Martial Arts Styles
* Black Rose Style : A martial arts style designed to go with the Amiliki. A style intended to produce the perfect disposable assassin.
* Clay Soldier Style : Another martial arts style designed to go with the Amiliki. Inspired by the government soldiers in House of Flying Daggers and Frank Miller's comic book 300.
* Elephant Style : Because no one else had seemed to make one, oddly.
* Four Monarchs Style - Underworld style for Ghost-Knights emulating the Dual Monarchy that allows certain Charms to be connected without Combos.
* Jade Rabbit Style : A style inspired by the myths and fairytales of rabbits, along with a liberal splash of Jackie Chan.
* Monochrome Diamond Style - Underworld style that adapts prayer and worship into a weapon.
* Nine-Tailed Fox Style : An attempt at a martial arts style with a strong kitsune bent.
* Starlight Road Style : Walking between and under the stars.
* Whispering Meadow Style : A samurai-ish style centered around the secret language of flowers.

Games
*A Dance of Angels: GoldenCat's epic campaign set in the north
*Jade and Emerald: Also run by GoldenCat, a much more light hearted and adventurerous tale set in the Scavenger Lands. Now very likely (and very depressingly) dead.
* Of Fire and Iron: Against the odds, a game to be run by me. A god-blooded game set at least initially in the Boil.

Game Ideas
* Blessed in Blood

Characters
* King Deshane Batief: Care-free king of a pointlessly wealthy western nation.
* Er-Lang: Brash, proud, but utlimately heroic son of a Celestial Lion.
* Gin : Sensual, manipulative Lunar concubine.
* Jack of Hearts: Young priestess straight out of a harem anime.
* Rika Sanjuro: Lady of the Blade Misra, Rika of the Divine Bow, Ash Spear Rika, ect... very famous and very retired God-blooded swordswoman.
* Seventh Moon: Infamous Lunar punk from the Boil.

Cool Things
* Thaumaturgy Charms: Easily one of my favorite of the Crunch Relays done. Exalted Charms for Mortal Thaumaturgy.
* Thus_Spake_Zaraborgstrom: Writer quotes for R. Sean Borgstrom, one of my favorite and most amusing of the Exalted writers.
* Quotes of Goodness: More quotes, but these mostly from the players. Extremely amusing. ^^
* VarazesMortalMartialArts: More mortal-y goodness. Varaze's take on mortal-level martial arts styles. Beautiful in their elegant simplicity.

Friends
DarkheartOne - DH, also Shelby, has in just the one game we've been in together proven to be a wonderful raksha player (<3 Days!) and a generally awesome person. Self-proclaimed Raksha-Boy, though Rin might fight him for the title one day.

DarkSirenSally - The (in)famous Dark Siren! Kazuki's better-half. A terrific and thoughtful writer who really just needs a bit more confidence (Pep-up, Mieu! For ever lasting peace!).

GoldenCat - Colapso, Delwyn, Daniel... whatever he wants to be called this week, he remains one of the most creative and passionate people I know. ^^

JDuel100 - The Unconquered-J Exalted me a while ago, thus it is only proper that I put a link to my patron god. ^^ J is an extremely entertaining person to be around with a mind for wacky and just plain fun characters.

Kraken - The skwid! Kraken is an excellent role-player and an extrmely patient and helpful person to ask advice on matters from.

Kazuki - Someone I met through Daniel whom I haven't had much chance to talk to so far, but who has been fun and entertaining those time we have spoken. A very creative person who seems to be a master of playing 'dark protectors,' if his performance in Dance of Angels as Alexsei is any example.

Morrigu - Extremely nice and endlessly fun crazy-person who I met through #Tower. Artistically multitalented in an unfair way and hugely creative. Look upon her art work and despair that she's probably better than you! ^^

Raccoon - Also known apparently as 'Slade,' but I don't know that name. ... STAY OUT OF MY TRASH!

Seiraryu - Sei! Or Manu, whatever he wants to be called. Creative beyond my meager abilities, with a user page absolutely filled with rad from top to bottom. Go Sei!

Selina - A tres-cool lady, who finally has a page up to be linked to (*Pokes Sel!*). Sel is extremely talented in seemingly everything she does and a great deal of fun to be around. Her avatar, the Dark Angel, is one of the most well developed and thought out characters I've ever known. >_>

SlipNine - Yet another of those people I barely know despite being in a game with, but wouldn't mind knowing better. Rin is a master of chaos in all it's beautiful, terriable forms.

Cool Strangers
FourWillowsWeeping - Who makes some of the best martial arts styles in this place. Consistantly amazing in that area.

Ikselam - Whose hearthstones I've repeatedly swiped.
----
Comments?
Welcome! Enjoy your stay, Grey :-) I'm taking your ideas in a bit of a different direction, myself. -Xeriar

: Thanks for the welcome, Xeriar. ^_^ I'm interested to see what you'd do with 'um. - Greymane

Black Rose Style - College of Endings Assassination Techniques
Crafted by Sidereals of the Bureau of Endings for use by College of Endings Amiliki operatives, this is a Terrestrial level Martial Art which aids in sculpting a martial artist to become a deadly assassin by emulating the intent behind the gift of a black rose. While it has only existed briefly, those who use this style have already developed something of a reputation for what seems to most to be needless cruelty by causing the deaths of those they target to linger. Yet, to Black Rose practitioners, nothing could be further from the truth.

Those trained in this style often refer to themselves as "messages of death." They pride themselves not on delivering swift and sudden assassinations, but in ensuring that each death they cause comes with a clear understand of why to all involved – the victim, the assassin, and all those around them. Indeed, if anything, they consider themselves far more aware of every murder they commit as they meditate upon their reasons for the act. While it does not necessarily facilitate a more moralistic outlook, it does often leave Black Rose assassins with a cleaner conscience and a more ready dedication to their task than others.

The Charms of this style cannot be employed with armor. Black Rose Style considers attacks made with straight swords, kunai, and thrown kunai as unarmed attacks.

Black Bud Awakening: Student Techniques
Intimate Gift Approach
Cost: 1 mote per weapon
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Min Martial Arts: 2
Min Essence: 1
Perquisites: None
A black rose is left for the eyes of its recipient alone, its warning meant for them and no other. Understanding this most basic of principles, the Black Rose Style practitioner can keep the tools by which he will deliver his message of death from all save those he desires to see them.

Using this Charm, the character can successfully conceal any weapon upon their person without fear of detection, provided it is no larger than a straight sword. The character may conceal a number of weapons equal to his Martial Arts score at a cost of one mote per weapon. Its effect ends the moment the character draws a weapon from concealment.

Mark of Haunting Truth
Cost: 2 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Min Martial Arts: 2
Min Essence: 2
Perquisites: Intimate Gift Approach
Many who are given the gift of the black rose attempt to ignore its message. Yet no matter how they attempt to turn their face from the truth, it has left them marked and preys upon their mind every waking moment. Understanding that many will attempt to deny this message, the character can employ this Charm to dispel such illusions and grant their victim better time to meditate on their fate by marking their target physically as well as mentally. This Charm ignored all difficulty penalties on an unarmed Martial Arts attempt to mark a target (see Exalted, page 238 for details on marking). This Charm can be used to reduce both the natural difficulty of marking and difficulty added from other sources such as Charms or Hearthstones, but only for a marking attempt.

Dark Message Motion
Cost: None
Duration: Permanent
Type: Special
Min Martial Arts: 3
Min Essence: 1
Perquisites: Intimate Gift Approach
Black roses often appear suddenly and unexpectedly to those cursed with their gift, manifesting seemingly out of thin air to be found laying on a pillow or a night stand, but their message is always clear. By using this Charm, the character can also ensure that his intentions are clear no matter how sudden his appearance may be. Should the character fail a Stealth contest, drawing forth a concealed weapon, or willingly revealing his presence to another after concealing himself, he may draw a weapon as a free action and either attack or defend with it immediately, splitting dice pools normally.

Unfurling Flower Enlightenment: Form Technique
Black Rose Form
Cost: 5 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Min Martial Arts: 4
Min Essence: 2
Perquisites: Mark of Haunting Truth, Dark Message Motion
Having internalized the basic tenets of the style, the character now learns to emulate implication of the Black Rose. They become the silent message of death. A stillness and a hush falls over them, unbroken save for the gentle rustle of their clothing and the sudden, swift motions of their attacks.

For the remainder of the scene, the character may add his Essence to his Initiative and any Stealth rolls or parries which use his Martial Arts ability provided he moves no more than one half his total movement a turn. The Charm allows the character to make reflexive parries at his permanent Essence if he has no other way to parry an attack. While this Charm is in effect, the character cannot speak nor utter a single sound. Should he die while under the effects of this Charm, his body and all possessions he carries will dissolve into a cloud of black rose petals, leaving behind no evidence of his presence.

A character cannot use more than one Form-type Charm at a time. Using a Form-type Charm ends the effects of another Form-type Charm the character was utilizing.

Wilting Petal Perception: Mastery Techniques
Blood-Thirsting Bloom Technique
Cost: 5 motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Min Martial Arts: 5
Min Essence: 2
Perquisites: Black Rose Form
This is the Charm for which practitioners of the Black Rose Style are often mislabeled cruel, for it is designed to aid in evoking a slower, more lingering death. It is not a tool of torture however, but understanding. As the gift of a black rose often leaves the recipient with days to mediate on their fate, this Charm allows the character to give the victim time to comprehend the message their death will leave behind.

This Charm may be activated when a successful unarmed Martial Arts attack deals at least one health level of damage. It induces bleeding in the victim for a number of turns equal to the martial artist's Essence. The blood loss cannot be staunched by Medical rolls nor the natural healing properties of the Exalted, only Charms designed for that purpose.

Shattered Blossom Sacrifice
Cost: 1 mote per 2 additional dice of damage
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Min Martial Arts: 4
Min Essence: 3
Perquisites: Black Rose Form
Be it a message of love or death, a clipped rose ages and withers fast. Black roses, though delivered fresh, are rarely preserved by their recipients. Once their message is delivered and their purpose fulfilled, they are doomed to wilt and fall apart. By employing this Charm, the character channels Essence through his blade to make the weapon take on much the same aspect. Upon successful ambush or attack from behind attack which employs an Martial Arts attack made with a form weapon, the character may buy additional post-soak damage at a rate of two dice per one mote. He may not buy more damage than his Martial Arts score. Non-artifact blades employed with this Charm will shatter into a hundred petal-like fragments.

Piercing Thorn Impalement
Cost: 4 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Supplemental
Min Martial Arts: 4
Min Essence: 2
Perquisites: Black Rose Form
The thorns of black roses are left unclipped and often sharpened to wicked points, so that even swaddling one in cloth to move it will pierce the flesh of its recipient. The character employing this Charm causes his own strikes to do much the same. A successful unarmed Martial Arts attack dealt with this Charm is considered piercing regardless of the weapons regular status and ignores half the targets armored soak, though not their natural soak.

Dead Rose Wisdom: Ultimate Technique
Hollowed Heart Palm
Cost: 10 motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: Essence in Turns
Type: Simple
Min Martial Arts: 5
Min Essence: 3
Perquisites: Blood-Thirsting Bloom Technique, Shattered Blossom Sacrifice, Piercing Thorn Impalement
The pinnacle of the Black Rose Style, Hollowed Heart Palm is the ultimate assassin's tool, but one which comes at a price too terrible to pay in all but the most dire circumstances. The character must be willing to slay their target, no matter what the cost, and reaching an understanding of the necessity of their action, escape all fear of death and become the message unto themselves. They write an often cryptic poem dedicated to their target and the message their death is intended to convey and conceal it upon themselves.

The character channels the whole of their soul into their palm and shape it as a numbing reverberation of Essence. The character then makes an unarmed Dexterity + Martial Arts attack as a marking attempt. The recipient of this blow makes a Stamina + Resistance roll with difficult equal to the character's permanent Essence. Should the target fail, they are rendered prone and helpless for a number of turns equal to the character's Essence and an image of the character's choosing marks itself upon the targets flesh. There is no Charm nor Sorcery which can preemptively end this effect nor remove this mark.

Each turn after this Charm has been used, regardless of its success, the characters Essence permanently lowers by 1. They loose access to any Charms their Essence no longer meets the requirements for except Charms of the Black Rose Style, which they may continue to employ.

Once their Essence has reached zero, the effect ends and the character dies. As with Black Rose Form, their body and all carried possessions fall apart, leaving behind nothing more than black rose petals. Unlike Black Rose Form however, their soul wilts as well, neither manifesting in the Underworld nor attaining Lethe nor even cast into the void of Oblivion, but dissolving away mote by mote and leaving nothing beyond stains of Essence where they stood. The only thing that remains of the character is their poem, laying atop the pile of rose petals.

Comments
This style was made to go with the College of Endings assassins in my on-again-off-again Amiliki project, while hopefully applicable beyond them. It was originally going to be called Winter Rose Style and involve a lot of clinching effects and enticement Charms, but a friend (GoldenCat) expressed interest in doing a Winter Rose Style as a Celestial Martial Art and so I passed the name on to him and changed it around a lot to make Black Rose Style (which several of its Charms already resembled). I ended up a lot more pleased with it thematically than I was with Winter Rose, though as usual I've got no clue at all if it's done properly as far as mechanics go. Feedback/suggestions/criticism, as always, is very welcome. – Greymane

Clay Soldier Style – College of Battles Combat Techniques
A style hand-crafted by the Chosen of Battles for Amiliki soldiers and commandos from the College of Battles, the Clay Soldier Style is one of the most commonly known martial arts among the Amiliki and one of growing popularity with outcast Terrestrial mercenaries. The Clay Soldier Style was inspired by burial traditions of the East, wherein those of wealth and power such as the shoguns of old would be entombed with vast armies of exquisitely crafted terracotta soldiers. While the intention of these clay warriors was to provide their master with an army to command in the afterlife, there was an undertone of loyalty, dedication, and solidarity to be found in the example of these unmoving watchmen.

Unlike most martial artists to master their craft, Clay Soldiers are not as vessels upon the sea. The strength of the style lay in the unity and coherency of a group and this strongly imprinted reliance upon an organized dynamic makes most Clay Soldiers seek out any form of company. They do not hold themselves to be alone in their wisdom and rarely are inclined to seek out and challenge others to prove the superiority of their art. To the contrary, few in the world are more eager to share their style and see it spread than the Clay Soldiers. At times their enthusiasm can be too great and, as young a style as it is, there are already as many stories of it's misuse as there are heroic legends.

This Style may be used while wearing light armor and medium armor. It's signature weapons are slashing swords, short spears, and target shields. Unlike most other Terrestrial-level Martial Arts, all Charms in this style draw heavily on the Essence of the earth. As a result, only Earth Aspect Terrestrials and the God-Blooded children of earth elementals and earth-aligned deities may use this style at the listed costs. All other characters pay the standard 1 mote elemental surcharge to use any of these Charms.

Malleable Mind Initiation: Student Charms
Sword-and-Shield Oath
Cost: 1 mote per character, 1 Willpower, 1 Health Level
Duration: One Story
Type: Simple
Min Martial Arts: 2
Min Essence: 1
Perquisites: None
Unity is the most basic principle of the Clay Soldier Style. A terracotta soldier alone is but a statue to be shattered, but five standing together as one is a wall which cannot be overcome easily. Nearly more ritual than Charm, the Sword-and-Shield Oath binds the Essence of five characters together into a Heroic Heavenly Soldier Fang. Each character must know this Charm and must be present for the binding. Gathering around an overturned shield, they all spill their blood into it together and dip their blades into the mixture, anointing one another upon the breast with the tip of their blades.

All characters must pay the mote and health level costs of the Charm, but only one need actually activate the Charm by expending Willpower. For the remainder of the Story, Fang members gain 1 bonus die to their Valor rolls for every other member of the Fang near them. In addition, they are constantly aware of the health and well being of the other members of the Fang, regardless of the distance separating them. Essence spent on this Charm remains committed until the end of the Story or the Fang dissolves itself willingly.

Body of Clay
Cost: 3 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Reflexive
Min Martial Arts: 3
Min Essence: 1
Perquisites: Sword-and-Shield Oath
The armor and shields of terra-cotta warriors are not worn garments, but the very flesh of the eternal guardians. With this Charm, the character weaves Essence through his armor and shield, fusing them to his body like a second skin. For the remainder of the scene, he ignores the mobility penalty inflicted by a target shield and any worn armor and neither can be removed by any means short of dismemberment.

Watchful Brother Reaction
Cost: 3 motes, 1 Willpower
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Min Martial Arts: 2
Min Essence: 2
Perquisites: Sword-and-Shield Oath
It is said that the spirits invested in terracotta warriors are bound so closely together that a blow intended to shatter one will instead only make cracks in another. When this Charm is activated in response to an attack, the character can attempt to split any damage resulting from the attack between the other members of his Fang. When damage is rolled, calculate the successes normally and then divide the successes between each Fang member who participates. For numbers that do not divide evenly, apply the left over damage to the original recipient of the attack.

Example: Willow Anther and her Fang are engaged in a desperate fight against an Outcaste Terrestrial when the Dragon-Blood slips past her shield to strike a blow. Activating Watchful Brother's Reaction, two of her sword-brothers open themselves to share her wound. The Terrestrial strikes hard and deals 10 health levels of damage. Divided between the three Clay Soldiers, two of them take 3 health levels of damage while Willow, the original target of the attack, makes up the difference and takes 4. If all four of Willow's sword-brothers had been willing to share the wound, each member of the Fang would have taken 2 health levels of damage instead.

Sculpted Soul Conception: Form Charm
Clay Soldier Form
Cost: 5 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Simple
Min Martial Arts: 4
Min Essence: 2
Perquisites: Body of Clay, Watchful Brother Reaction
The martial artist assumes a stiff and impossibly still battle stance, shield thrust out before them and blade slung low behind. Every muscle in their body seems to freeze in place, their face an unmoving mask of determination. After a few moments of standing in this position, the color thickens in their skin and clothing. It grows darker, becoming a red earthen tone. Once this transformation is complete, for the remainder of the scene the character reduces the damage from any source by one health level, applied after the damage is rolled. This effect cannot reduce an attack's damage below one. The stance taken is offensive as well as defensive, allowing the character to employ their shield in a more aggressive fashion, adding a number of dice equal to the difficulty bonus of the shield to all martial arts actions. As other members of the Fang assume the form of the Clay Soldier, their ties of Essence and blood draw them closer together. The color of their bodies soaks into the ground, spreading out towards their allies, until all stand upon a plain of red earth. For each member of the Fang who assumes Clay Soldier Form in sight of one another, the difficulty to inflict knockdown or knockback increases by one.

Hearth Hardened Consciousness: Mastery Charms
Shattered Warrior's Determination
Cost: 7 motes, 1 Willpower + 1 Willpower per turn
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Min Martial Arts: 4
Min Essence: 2
Perquisites: Clay Soldier Form
Even broken terracotta warriors continue their vigil. With this Charm, the martial artist will continue to stand and fight no matter how great the damage they receive. Once activated, the character can continue to function for a single turn. They may continue to function by paying an aditional point of Willpower there after, up to a number of turns equal to their Essence. It may only be activated once per scene. Those reduced to or past their Incapacitated health level with bashing damage simply collapse once the effects of this Charm wear off. Those reduced to or past their Incapacitated health level with lethal damage who receive no medical attention before the Charm's effects end instead change in color to dark red. Cracks race their body until they can no longer support their own weight and collapse into a pile of dust and broken clay limbs.

Impassable Gate Principle
Cost: 4 motes
Duration: One Scene
Type: Reflexive
Min Martial Arts: 4
Min Essence: 2
Perquisites: Clay Soldier Form
In the tombs of the great kings of the east, there are places where the ranks of terracotta warriors stand so thick as to forbid all passage. With this Charm, the Clay Soldier aligns his shield in such as fashion as to deny his enemies the ability to even approach him for assault. Activating this Charm reduces the number of foes who may successfully assault the character at one time by 1.

Once one character in a Fang has activated this Charm, others in the Fang may reflexively spend 4 motes to join him. Each character in the Fang who joins this formation reduces the number of foes that can successfully attack them at once by the number of allies in the formation. Thus, full formation of five cannot be engaged by more than one foe at a time each. This Charm cannot be employed without a shield. Fang members must remain within 10 yards of another Fang member to maintain the accumulative effect.

Foolish Raiders Rebuke
Cost: 3 motes
Duration: Instant
Type: Reflexive
Min Martial Arts: 4
Min Essence: 2
Perquisites: Clay Soldier Form
The mere sight of an army of terracotta warriors arrayed before them is enough to send most tomb raiders into flight. Yet there are a foolish few who think the clay soldier's harmless and press onwards, only to meet a grisly end upon the countless traps hidden within the unmoving ranks.

Upon a failed unarmed Martial Arts attack, the Clay Soldier may make an immediate follow-up attack employing his shield. This is made at Dexterity + Martial Arts and deals the characters Strength + the shield's difficulty penalty in bashing damage. Damage dealt with this attack is considered double for the purpose of knock-back. It may be dodged or parried as normal.

Other Fang members who have not used their action for that turn and know this Charm may activate it reflexively as well to attack from a different direction. Each Fang member who so engages the target in this fashion reduces the targets movement rate by 1/4th. If all five activate this Charm, the target is trapped on all four sides and above, unable to move at all.

One Face Among One-Hundred Thousand Awareness: Ultimate Charm
Barrier of the Eternal Brotherhood
Cost: 4 motes
Duration: One Turn
Type: Reflexive
Min Martial Arts: 5
Min Essence: 3
Perquisites: Foolish Raiders Rebuke, Impassable Gate Principle, Shattered Warrior's Determination
Bound to his shield, the Clay Soldier draws it through the air, leaving in it's wake a trail of dark red Essence that hardens into an unbreakable shell. Double the difficulty penalty of the character's shield during the same turn this Charm is activated. Additionally, increase the difficulty penalty further, by one point for ever Fang member employing this Charm who remains within 10 yards of at least one other Fang member.

Comments
Changed the mechanics of Watchful Brother Reaction and made a minor addition to Sword-and-Shield Oath, with thanks to David. for suggesting both. Also gave the style ties to Earth-essence ala Jade Mountain, because it seemed to fit, and added short spears as form weapons, because they also seemed to fit. Belated thank yous to both GoldenCat and Kraken for their own feedback on the style. Muchos gracias cat and skwid! ^_^ - Greymane

This looks like a very nice Style indeed! I haven't had the chance to pore through in detail just yet, but two quick questions in the interim: with regards the form shield benefit, presumably we apply the shield penalty vs. melee attacks? Also, the elemental surcharge: are we following 2E rules, and allowing water aspects to avoid elemental surcharges from all different Styles? I'm assuming yes on both counts, but a quick clarification would help...DeathBySurfeit

: Yes on the first count and an "I suppose so" on the second. I've very stubbornly refused to look at most of 2E, but if that is what it says water aspects can do, then it would apply here too. - Greymane
: I'm not sure your second question makes sense, DeathBySurfeit. The style is fairly clearly 1e, with the lack of keywords, 1 turn durations and other typical 1e effects. While I think Greymane is correct in his interpretation (that if translated, it would use the 2E rule), ill-considered 1e->2e conversions are reposible for some of the really bad charms in 2e. So some care should be used in conversion. - Kraken just adding his own views on the matter
:: I understand, Kraken. Ill-considered 1e->2e conversions are indeed responsible for some really bad charms. Would any of these make really bad charms in 2e, given action durations and keywords? I don't consider all efforts at adaption to be folly, especially given the solid rules and strong thematics of this style...DeathBySurfeit
::: I'm glad I'm not the only one bothered by the conversions. Anyway, on reading the style and thinking about Ex2, I don't think there would be issues caused by changing it over. I was just flagging it to suggest that anyone who does do such conversions should really know both rulesets well enough to make a call about something like the attribute bonus. - Kraken who didn't mean to suggest you weren't, and was merely using this as an example.

Comments
I've started to index HearthStones by Aspect and Level, but its a time-consuming process. I'd love some help if anyone's got free time. I sure don't. Otherwise, expect about one new page a week. - Telgar

Well, Telgar, I've got the skeleton up for the terrestrial stones, so we should be good to go there. I've also added my own stones to the terrestrial section. I do plan to do more, but ikselam's terrestrial hearthstone section scares me. Anyway, sorry about the unnecessary posts on the recent changes section. Sometimes I miss the little box, but no body's perfect. -EndlessChase

Doing a bit of work here. Added page references for all hearthstones from Exalted, Book of Three Circles, Savant & Sorcerer, and Exalted: The Outcaste. Also created some subpages. -- JesseLowe

I have some Hearthstones indexed but am not sure what exactly you are needing from the books. So feel free to take what you need from my site to help yours. -Buji

Page referenced the six Hearthstones from Caste Book: Dawn. And then the 11 from Caste Book: Zenith. Bloops, now the 9 from Caste Book: Twilight and the few from Caste Book: Night. Finally, and with much reluctance, I speculated on the placement of the Hearthstones in Caste Book: Eclipse, placing most of them in SolarHearthstones , but Merchant's Jewel in WaterLevelTwo because of its close connection to Bureaucracy, and double posting Jewel of Whispers in SolarHearthstones/SolarLevelThree and AirHearthstones/LevelThree cuz it could go as either. Finally, put the Oathstone in each of the 5 Solar levels, as it can apply to each. CB:E was a huge pain in the ass, basically. -- UncleChu

Still riding high on the recognitionless charity of inputting all these Canon Hearthstones, I added Aspect Book: Air's 9 fine HS's, Aspect Book: Earth's 8 HSs, the ones from Aspect Book: Fire, and from Aspect Book: Wood. I was quite surprised to not see any in the Water book. Also, throughout all this inputting, I've been doing some alphabetizing and slight reformatting if a page did not look good enough. -- Uncle Chu and You

I appreciate your work UncleChu! Your hearthstone catagorization has been helpful in me finding at least one stone, probably more. Hang in there!
-- Darloth

Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone out there had any infernal aspected hearthstones. I had heard rumours of some floating about the wiki but my mind is getting boggled by the sheer vastness of all of this fan material. If anyone has created any or seen any I would appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks ~ Insanewizard
